hey isha,

You could take your phone to a nokia service centre if u wanna try that but u do get cables is singapore, i bought my 6310 and cable there (sorry am not able to remember where exactly) i suggest u try the local electronics market

The cable is genrally known as flash cable and printer port cable, Very few people know ita fbus cable, its different from a data cable a data cable wil be useless for u r purpose.if u know anybody in india i suggest u ask them to buy it locally and ship it to you preferrably from mumbai or chennai. good luck

Hi there :)

I don't want to be rude, you all try o help. But it makes a hell of a confusion.

First, a FLASH cable (Printer port to phone) is used ONLY to change the phone's operating system, a procedure called "flashing". It is NOT required for uploading games and ringtones!

Second, a F-BUS CABLE does NOT work with many applications out there. There is a different between the newer phones such as the 7250 and the older ones (such as 6310). The new phones need a new cable, too!

The only CABLE usefull is a "DKU-5", or "Pop-Port data cable". Get that in a Nokia shop, or any mobile phone shop.

This DKU-5 connects to the connector on the bottom of your 7250 (this is called "Pop-Port") and the other end to a USB-Port of your computer.
Install the drivers that came together with that cable, it is detected as a "Serial-USB converter". It is important to have it installed before you go the next step!

The next step is to acquire software to get your games and ringtones into the phone, since the cable and it's drivers make only the connection, not the transfer.
There is a software for free from Nokia, this is called Nokia PC-Suite. Look at www.nokia.com there are different versions of it! Get the one for the 7250. Be aware, it is a 55+ MB download, but it is free!
Alternatively, you may use Mobile Media Browser ("Mobi MB") which is NOT free, but you may find cracked versions via Kazaa. Do not ask here for such cracks since Nfree does not allow even asking for them, and that is good so!
Another alternative is Oxygen Phone Manager, again, not free and again, can be found cracked via Kazaa.

After you got any one of the three, install it. Be sure you got the cable and it's drivers installed first!

Then Connect the phone to the cable. It should be detected correctly, and you are ready. The actual procedure "how to get games, ringtones and images into or from the phone" depends on which software you use, and is documented in the software's "Help" files.

I dn't want to confuse you at all, i made it as easy as it is. But i tell you there is ONE alternative to that DKU-5 cable, and that is IrDA. You know that your 7250 got IR on it's upper end. Now, alternative to the DKU-5 cable you may buy a USB-IrDA adaptor which could be cheaper than the DKU-5. After you have installed that item correctly, it will work just as well, only you need to activate the phone's IR connection first (via the menu "Connectivity"). The rest is the same :)

Please don't bother looking for "Flasher" or "F-Bus cable" since they are both useless for your purpose.

Kindest regards.....
your Thanh

Hello again :)

If you go to the Nokia shop, ask for the "Pop Port data cable" or DKU-5 cable. They should have it there :)

You connect it at the bottom of your phone, beside the charger hole. At the same place where you connect the headset :)

When you get the cable, look at it. There has to be one connector that looks just like the one on the headset and the other end has to be a USB plug for the computer.

Yes, you just connect that USB plug to your computer, the other plug to the phone (it fits only one way, you can't do that wrong) and the cmputer should tell you "found new hardware" or similar. Insert the CD which comes together with the cable and follow the instructions to install the drivers.

Good luck.....

well thanh just for your info i use the f-bus cable with 7250i and have had no probs at all.....

so it is not just the DKU-5 that works with them even though this is recommended and the pop port from nokia costs around £50 where as the dku-5 or f-bus cable cost like £5.

also i thought the dku-5 cable was called f-bus/dku-5 ??????

i am wrong? cuz i thought it works as both cuz thats what is says on the packet

Hi there :)

@7250i user

Yes, the DKU-5 communicates with the phone via the "F-Bus" data channel. But that is the only thing it has in common with the "ordinary" F-Bus cable.
Some applications (maybe MobiMB?) do work with either cable, but for example Nokia's PC Suite won't even detect a connected phone.
Also several users complain about phones going dead, resetting or simply shutting off when trying to use such cable.

I myself haven't used either (!) but i recommend to the newbie to go with the "fool-proof" DKU-5 since there not much can go wrong and he won't end up having spent 5$ or whatever amount and sitting there, unable to transfer anything and not knowing why, or, worse, having killed his phone.........

The DKU-5 is actually nothing but a F-Bus cable with integrated serial-USB converter. Instead of a "real" serial (COM) port it makes use of a "virtual COM port" via USB, having the convenience of plug'n'play and being able to connect/disconnect it quickly at both phone and computer.

Kind regards.....

...not that i want to start anything but the cheap fbus cable
is the most common connection. based on my browsing on
6 different mobile forums, and also based on the cell shops
here in manila. the original dku-5 cable made by nokia
is also an alternative, but there are also connection problems
thats why there is also an update for their usb driver. if you
have an original copy of any phone software, then there
shouldn't be any problems. infrared is also an alternative.
