Take out your SIM card, then switch on the phone. It will prompt with "Insert SIM". Type code VERY carefully:

To get the "+" press the * key 2 times
To get the "p" press the * key 3 times
To get the "w" press the * key 4 times

The phone should say sim restriction off, and reboot, then prompt "Insert SIM". Switch it off, insert the SIM you want to use, and it should be fully working with signal.

IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) is some kind of an identifier given to your phone by the network every time you connect..

but it is not used in unlocking..

When I did it said 'restriction off'. now what?!
I have 2 other SIM cards (new never been used) but they did not work, only my original works. What can I do now that my "restriction is off"??

What does it say when you put the other sim cards in
may be that the are not activated yet and that you have to do so !!

yeah. i guess you are right. i didn't ever activate them.(duh!)
now that 'restriction code is off my phone. what is different? what can i do now? (anything good? yikes!)
i have geeked and tweeked with my nokia 5120 and 5165 until i am blue in the face (with no luck of course). now i have this new phone and know nothing about it...sucks. i thought it would have more "tweeky" things. but i am either an idiot or it really don't.
guess i need an new hobby huh?
(hey, i also have a ericsson T61d if ya know anything good on it)
