View Full Version : Serial Pop-Port cable, schematic needed

Hi guys :)

I am not sure where to put this question, so i decided to put it right here.

I am in the need for a schematic to build a data cable, serial (COM) to Pop-Port. This is to be used for 6610, 7210, 7250 and some others, too. Anyone got such a diagram? Please post it here, thank you in advance!

Also i would like to know, if this type of cable works with either MobiMB or Oxygen Phone manager. i know it will not work with PC Suite. The purpose of it is to download pictures from a 7250 to the computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

....yes that cable actually works!!!....upon opening the connector
which connects to the pop port.....only three wires are used....
most probably fbus receive and fbus transmit and ground wire
works wiht mobi mb and oxygen.... i remember somebody
posted the pop port connections somewhere.....

this cable is not available at mbk? i'm shocked.....
another alternative is the mobile action usb cable.....

Thank you for reply. Sure that cable is available at MBK, but why should i waste 400 Baht to get it? I have a Pop-Port connector and plenty of Serial connectors, i now know a shop where to get IC's if needed.... and as i see from the experience with my flasher, which i built at a material cost of 35 Baht (!) i guess the cable won't cost any more :)

I am not too rich, you know... yes, even foreigtners in Thailand can be poor! So i have to save where i can, and as i am good at the soldering iron, i wish to build that cable on my own.... all i need is a diagram :)

400baht, why its only 200pesos here in manila, and for that
you get connectivity for 10 nokia gsm phones- without removing
the back cover and removing the battery!!!! although the
cable is kinda fragile.... i'll keep on looking...i'm sure it must
on the archive sections......and i'm sure the serial end of the
cable must have an ic chip inside.....

Hello :)

Well, i have no clue of the exchange rates thai baht/phillipine peso, but thje thai price is just short of 10 us$. That is for the cheap seriel-pop-port cable version!
A (also cheap) copied pop-port-USB cable (compatible with DKU-5) cost 990 Baht here, a bit over 24 us$, and the original thing, DKU-5 from Nokia, costing still 3.490 Baht (!!) which equals 85 us$.
Sure the serial end of that cable incudes some circuitry, and i have schematics for an ordinary m/f-bus cable for DCT-3, but i am not sure wether i can use that same schematic to port it for DCT-4 phones, specially pop-port ones. I heared of people's phones going dead or getting somehow damaged by using non-Nokia cables and software, and all i wish to accomplish with that cable is to download pictures from my boyfriends 7250 to the computer. I don't need to upload games or other stuff, we use WAP for that. But sending each picture as an e-mail cost money again, and there are some 120 or so pictures in it, at 10 baht for each mail, well, that's about three cables, right?
When i build the cable on my own, i know exactly what is in there and what it is supposed to do. I have yet only built one such thing (a DCT-3 flasher) but it was a success, working better than some buyable flashers.

I still hope someone can share a schematic for the needed cable... serial to Pop-Port :)

just connect using pins 6,7, 8
to the serial end of the cable..... i guess

Hello again :)

That was taken from a Pop-Port diagram i posted myself somewhere here a while ago, right? Hmm i got that already, but thank you very much for wanting to help....

The Pop-Port part does not present a problem for me. I need to know what comes after that..... i mean, a layout of a serial plug, and the circuitry coming between the pop-port and that serial plug. I am not sure if it is the same as in a regular f-bus cable, since Nokia sometimes changes those f-bus commands or what they are called.

There has to be an IC in the cable, which might be a 74HC14 or similar (can't remember) and several other components, in the end it looked pretty similar to a DCT-3 flasher at first sight. But i have to go sure since i can't afford to kill a 7250 on the basis of "guessing where it might be soldered to" :)

Please - someone got the schematic for a Pop-Port to serial cable?

Hello :)

No, i did not succeed in building one... i ended up buying one :) And since a few weeks i also have a IrDA-USB thingy which works much better and also supports my Panasonic phone :)
