‘Just curious if anyone on the board has encountered problems with SIM card registrations with this model phone.

I’m having problems while travelling between towers and have become perplexed with troubleshooting. I am beginning to think that there is a design issue or possibly multiple handsets were released with manufacturing errors.

Specifically, the areas where the registration fails have very strong signals, so there is little doubt that the problem is coverage related. Knowing full well that the signal is strong, I must cycle power on the phone to regain the signal. I also use a 6610 handset in the same areas and have not encountered this problem.

In addition to having the service provider replace the transceiver, I have had the SIM replaced, and have continued to experience the same problem.

Any input would be appreciated. Cheers....

Although this won't help you in solving your problem, I have encountered a simliar problem with my 6200 (with AT&T as the carrier).

After losing signal completely (due to, for example, being underground -- my uni's library is underground), the phone takes 3-5 minutes to regain the signal once I return to an area of a strong signal (full bar). If I power-cycle the phone it regains the signal immediately...although sometimes it loses it immediately after regaining it and I have to wait a couple of minutes for it to re-regain it. Annoying as hell.

In my case, the phone has many times not re-registered at all until cycling the power. I would be interested to know if Cingular subscribers are experiencing the same problem.

Thanks for the reply.
