Reading a manual...

6600 uses totally different transport protocol than 76/3650.
Instead of WAP it uses TCP/IP. Thats why the connection settings are different.
At the "Connection" options -menu, you can find "Advanced settings". There you have to set the "Proxy server address" and "Proxy port number". I'm pretty sure this is mentioned in the manual.
So, there's nothing wrong in your phone.

But how do i get those setings.?
The operators were at a loss when i put forth the advanced settings questions and requirements to them
More over the manual does not mention this and does mention setting up gateway ip and that causes all the confusion.
If it is of any help the operator is Airtel in Delhi (India).

Thanks,
Kapil.

Switch off phone.
Remove SIM card
Insert SIM card
Switch on phone
Then re-try connection..

If it still doesn't work, call ur service provider and screw them for giving wrong settings!!

Just put the gateway ip provided in as the proxy server address in advanced, and the port as 8080 (as the phone is WAP 2.0 only). Leave DNS's and phone IP blank/automatic. You should be good to go!

Guys,

This is the story>

N6600 runs TCP/IP, something AirTel's current WAP gateway (version 1.2) doesn't understand. However, WAP gateway version 2.0 does. AirTel has plans to upgrade to the newer version in the next 7 - 10 days.

Keep posting here. It should start working very soon!

just use the following info. in the access points saved under Settings>Connection>Access Points:

Airtel MMS:-
in advanced options menu, put proxy server as 100.1.201.172 and port number as 8799

Airtel Masala Service (WAP)
in advanced options menu, put proxy server as 100.1.200.99 and port number as 8080
