Hi,

I browsed this forum and I'm totally lost in the "locking, unlocking, flashing, logging reading, updating phones world". The project seems simple: unlock an s45. I'd like to understand the terms and the whole procedure.

The facts: I have the locked phone, a SIM card which I don't want to use, the new SIM, the data cable came with the phone. I can check out the IMEI and the software version.

The questions:

1. Can I use the factory cable to read and write the phone?
2. Which program can I use under WinXP for reading/writing?
3. I have to change the IMEI for unlocking?
4. If I have to modify the cable where can I find info about pinouts?
5. If I fail may I ask someone to unlock the phone for me? :)

I should greatly appreciate too for "RTFM"-like answers with URLs. :)

1. no, you need an unlock cable (i got a data cable and tried unlocking on three comps b4 i knew that)
2. None, you must use a non NT kernel (i.e. 95,98,98SE,ME)
3. no, you have to write it down in the logger though
4. pinout discription attached
5. there are people who are willing to unlock the phone around the web, but they usally only offer help in MAP file making, you need to get the cable yourself

i know i gave you this answer very late, but i just registered here :-)
