gd88 cover change problem

Hi all, can some one help, i changed the cove on my gd88 and now when i close the top flap the front screen wont light up, how dose the phone know when it is closed

hi can anyone tell me where the magnet goes??? my gd87 snaped in half and the magnet fell out i've put a new housing on it but dont know where the magnet goes . please please please help :-?
