First I want to say thank you very much JoJo and all the others who are providing us with maps for this wonderfull application.

I now have a map over Amsterdam and Oslo on my phone but the find feature on the oslo map doesnt work. The Citymaps just closes down and I am given an error if i try to search for a location on the map in Oslo.

I CAN do searches on the Amsterdam map without any problem..

Is it something i am doing wrong here ?

I uploaded 2 citys from the netherlands on your group but they dont work on the 6600 but only on the communicator. Maybe you can fix them with a patch or something for the people in Netherlands :D

Well, I downloaded TomTom City maps and the Oslo map. Everything seems to work fine until I search for a street etc. I get: "Program closed citymap".

Why? Only when I search for a street etc...

I have a 6600.

The problem is I DONT have a communicator!!! :lol: Amsterdam with the patch works but the citys I uploaded dont work on my nokia 6600!!! You know why?? I want to put several citys on my 6600 because only amsterdam is not cool...

I've browsed both topoland and topoland2 briefcase at pathfinder, but stockholm isn't there.

i have downloaded the 6 files of london and they have unzipped, when i try to install on my 3650 the phone says not enough memory delete some data. i have deleted all of the images and tones from my memory card but it still don't work any ideas thanks.

I have the big London Map, all seems well but when i try to find a street i get a message saying app. closed citymap.

When i find a main town its okay, like sutton, kingston but when i try a specific street like throwley way or manitly way i get the error.

I have installed the jojo patch and even tried formatting memory card and reinstalling all files, still no joy

i dont understand this, i have three files:

a patch for the citymaps.sis
London-j.sis
London_ovc.sis

What do i install? Which one is the application? I install the ovc one but i do not get any icon (on n-gage).

Based on my experiences the find and the route plan bugs of TOMTOM city maps are in some way language dependant.

Try to switch the phone in english language before installing the tomtom software.
The installer, based on your phone preferences ,will install the software in english.
Now the find and route functions will work for many maps.

Other maps are localized for different language (greek?) and the find function will only work for that language.

I've tested personally but i'm not coder so i really dunno how to fix this bug, but only to bypass it.

Hope this can help some of you.

this bug is in EPOC32 system while trying to retreive data from a specific path.
(e.g. C:\system\apps\citymaps)
has nothing to do with installed languages(its just a detail of sis packer)

the map gives the error, because into the aplication there is another
"wrong" path in the "find" and "route" routine of application
(database error).

i already had the small london map on my phone (3650) i have now the big one, the way i got it to work without the not enough memory was to umake the sis file then copy the file using the nokia 3650 data suite direct to to old london map folder. it works ok but no search

i think its because the company that made the proggy is from europe and because their are a lot of american consumers, they had created some maps of it too. well sad for us asians. :rolleyes:

The only maps which "find" doesn't work in, are the ones downloaded from the citymaps europe. There it works only the "find" from city to city but not to rout inside the city.

That's normal, cause unofficial maps are simply maps of "citymaps europe" another tomtom product, that has slightly different map coding, so they doesn't work correctly.
But the original tomtom citymaps for series60 installed with english language works perfectly.

Sure, www.tomtom.com choose Maps on the left, then citymaps for series60.
There you'll find a working original map for Palermo with plan route, interest point and everything you want.
It costs only 4,99$. I think it worths what you pay.

no, i stoped. agamemnon didnt like what i said before.
and some other guys too, so i keep all the maps for me,for now
the "find" and "route" function is working as they said

download them from CD#2, i will keep posting here,but
some guys didnt like what i did to make sis packages for TOMTOM
which are already released maps from TOMTOM.
citymaps from these briefcases are not mine, but copyrighted
from TOMTOM ok, sorry

Jojo it is not a matter of "like or dislike". You can do what you want. I only told to you that it was better to say to everyone that they could have all the maps they wanted just using the citymaps europe CD. So there is no need to wait for a repack just install them from pc nokia suite and rename the files as the ones tomtom name the original map. That's all.
But if you still want to feed these guys go on...there are billions of cities in Europe...so be patience :)

Hi !
I've installed the software and the patch. Then i installed the
MIlan map.
Now. QUESTIONs:
Why there are two files in the MIlan zip file?
I installed them both anyway. Thought didn't know the difference of
the two sis files.

Then i opened the software. It shows the map and the itinerary tool
works fine BUT, if i go on FIND the application crashes.

I heard the PATCH would fix it, but i have it installed and there is
no difference , it still crashes.

ANy help?

The reason why citymaps crashes when you use the find function is that the map is not compatible with n6600. The second file is probably an overlay.

Can anyone clear someting up for me ?
There is a couple of things that i dont understand.

What is this CD people are getting their maps from and installing them on their phonne ? Where can i get this cd and does it have Bergen Norway and Melbourne Australia on it . Is there anyone who made a howto how to make these maps for symbian phones..

I think there is a lot people wondering the same thing as me, and if everyone could help out to make maps for their own city the great Jojo didnt have to do all his work himself..

And when i first writing this message i will use the opertunity to thank JoJo for making all this possible. I still havent had use for the maps yet becuase there is NO map for Bergen and Melbourne where I live (used to live in Bergen) and the third city i am often visiting (Oslo). It it working but the find function isnt working so it basiclly usless.

Blimey! I just tried that on my 6600 with the Manchester NE Map and it works!! Strange that it works with the city's and not the Streets.
But at least its working on some level.

I've compared the search option on two maps. Amsterdam and Alkmaar (both dutch cities)
The odd thing i noticed is when searching for a streetname in the Amsterdam map is, you can also specify a housenumber. This is not the case when searching for a city in the same amsterdam map (offcourse)

So i think the maps where the search function only works partilally (only search and plan a route between cities) the data for housenumbers cannot be found, when looking for a streetname, thus the application crashes.
So maby we should be looking at disabling the function in citymap to ask for a house number? How. I really do not have a clue yet..

Any comment or suggestions are welcome.

I‘ve read this post with much interest and have tried to install the “Europe 3.0a” map on a nokia 6600.
I discover that some map work if I move them in E:/CityMaps/namecity, create the directory Map and move to its inside all the dat files; naturally I lose the itineraries function, but I need to see the countries between city.
However the problem is that some maps won’t work and generate an app error.
After some experiments I have concluded that the cuse it resides in the mapinfo.dat file.
Someone knows how modifying the mapinfo.dat file in order to make it compatible with the 6600?

P.S. Sorry for my really bad english :sad:

I bought the 2cd version of citymaps europe. I hoped they would work with my Nokia6600 phone, but they don't,,,,,,

i think that a lot of people have "bought" the CDs of tomtom
from Kazaa online store, but it would be helpful if you could share
this CD, like we all do here!

first of all, you can add the rood direcrory
and some files(the exe files and some maps)
for example: to a streamload account ( www.streamload.com)
and send them to anybody who is interested here

The problem is that the maps from the Citymaps Europe CD don't have any house numbering information in them. If you look up a place (a station for example) instead of a street, the application doesn't crash.

So it would be a better idea to crack the citymaps application so it doesn't want to look up this house numbering information :) Then all maps from the CD would work with searching functions.

If you are asking about the gps function within tomtom it does! but it only tells you where you are on the map and the map doesn't follow your movements so it's pretty useless.

the sis file of london_area is big, so i have splited into 6 parts.
(memory problems)
Unzip those parts into the SAME folder of your PC and install ALL sis files in
your MMC

firstly i would like to say that i have been kicked cause i said the same

#mediaplace had a war against the new channel #aivanet and they were
flooding and bombing the channel for long time, so probably you were banned
while the channel had floods(i have banned by fault, too)
by the way i am serving my files into both channels, but mostly in #aivanet,
cause is not so busy without quotes and stuff for more than series60

how to unrar PARTED rar file:

1. download ALL parts of the FILE (6 parts for london) 1,2,3,4,5 same size, the last is always smaller

2. put them into the SAME folder into your disc.

3. double click the FIRST zipped file (into the PART1 rar)
or
3. move the FIRST zipped file (using your mouse) of the PART1 into a folder

working without "route" bug, neither lydiachris would know!

probably he has read my tutorial about citymaps on my-symbian,where I was
banned while discusting on it!!(cause they said is illegal to move files

It would be good for us to have an answer so the maps will work 100%
for our nokias, however the original tomtom citymaps of 5euro work on
7650/3650/etc..

hey you guys, this really clever genius man called Sektor i found on Cyberlie told me. it does work only on some maps though. give it a try. i have the 100,000 europe maps for nokia 9210 and they all install using his method only some work with search and find. i am using a "old" firmware for my 6600.

by the way, i had a conversation with sector of cybelie and he saw that his solution
is the same OLD solution(of moving .dat files one by one) that has been posted here(page 7),
in my page, in my briefcase and other link, so we all know that nobody is a jeanous, though!

however, my mind tells me that u dont have the 100,000 maps as said,
u still look the way to download the CD, yet,
so stop the WORTHLESS-JUNK posts and tell something helpful to us, here!

Hey guys.

I really don't know what i've done wrong.
i can say that I DO have the 100,000 TomTom CityMaps Europe cd. I won it off ebay for £8. The only reason why I was asking how you get Emule to work was because I understand that the new 2003 version of TomTom CityMaps europe has 2 cd's and I can see you can download it on Emule.
Now please stop the immature posts because I mean no wrong.

ps. you can believe this if you want, but I do have 2 256MB mmc cards for my 6600 which are full off crack*ed software, including all the n-gage games, all psiloc app's crac*ked so if any of you want anything just say.

does anyone have london, rome and any other uk cities maps for the NOKIA 6600, I tried to install a london file but it says it is not compatible with my phone ?

hi runu, all i know is that the big london map dont work with the search function and the plan route fuction, but the small london map works with both functions (but its only the city and westend) i dun know about the rest, but im sure it works wif the 6600, but u might need the version by jOjO
