The Vilani software doesn't work with the Australian GX10i. Is there anything I can do to make it work or simply flash my phone. It has phone lock and req's me to enter a 4 digit pin.

Vilani "said" it unlocked it, but it didn't.

I have USB cable and the phone IS talking to the software, but... ya.

be carefull with the software for GX10i
it's hard reset and might fuck up your calibration and your reception might become very bad..

Villani software works fine to unlock GX10i but use it with serial cable on com port.

My girlfriend and I recently split and she has moved away with someone else and changed the pin code on my beloved phone. Without trying every possible combination under the sun is there anyway I can use my phone again? I asked somebody at a computer fair and they said it was border line illegal! Why's that?

I have no recollection that its illegal to change a security code.Pin codes for sim are sim dependant and cannot be changed via ANY software. There are some sim readers which are standalone PIC readers, but they are expensive and fiddly to use.
Security on the phone is not a problem, for best results use Vilani 3.1 to reset the code, I would be tempted to do fresh unlock, reset code to 0000 etc. This is of course provided that you legally own the handset!

Cant you simply punch in a code to unlock GX10i? mines locked on vodaphone and i need it to work on O2 what can i do?

There are a few places which claim to do remote unlocking for the GX series, but I have yet to see any which do work. Unlocking is simple enough provided you use the right software and a decent SERIAL port cable.

I had the same problem when i tried running it on my toshiba laptop, which has XP on it. It seems to run on my main PC which is using XP also.

anybody have a problem with handset code, try this baby. i thort i was stuck and had to send it back to UK (i live in OZ) but i went to a discussion forum and found this, it truly works :)
full factory reset - clears EVERYTHING

Turn phone OFF

Remove SIM

Put battery back in, but DO NOT TURN ON


1 Press 0, 3, top right key and Red key together for about 3 secs until a white display is shown.

2 Press 0, 1, 2, 3, top right key, 1, in sequence. The Diagnosis menu should be displayed.

3 Enter 99 and press the top right key. A message should be displayed saying Input Mode No:


4 Enter 1 and press the top right key. The following messages should appear:
· EE_FORMAT START
· EE_FORMAT OK
· EE_INIT(1) START
· EE_INIT(1) OK
· BBSRAM CLEAR END
· FINISHED
· PLEASE ANY KEY
5 Wait until all the above messages are displayed and then press the top right key.
6 Press the M key (very important). Message should display Diag Param Saving.
7 Press the red key to power down the phone


Default phone code will now be the standard 0000 (as when phone was new)

This as been said many times but I must disagree, I unlocked my gx10i with a usb cable. But a cable that uses an emulator (Prolific Usb-to-Serial Comm Port), you have an usb cable that works like a serial. I unlocked it with Vilani 3.1.
