in windows xp click controll panel ..
> click modems.. at this point your bluetooth device should be listed.

> select your bluetooth and click properties
> click advanced
> there will be a blank field labeled "extra int comands"... enter this -------------- AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","xxxxxxxxxx" ------------ < with out the -----'s > I will list the xxxxxxxxx later

> click ok..

now go to your bluetooth dailup.. < should be that "blue shield looking thing in the icon box by the time>

your id and password will vary by provider.. < i will provide dont freak out! >

the number you will dail wil be *99#

click connect at this time your fone will dail GPRS .. your comp will register and you will be online! !!

I feel great !!!!!!!!!!!

< have to add pls make sure you have paired your device before you start >

now for the xxxxxx's the in the "estra int comand sting?
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","xxxxxxxxxx" will = whatever this site says it is for you

example:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","xxxxxxxxxx" for Australia Vodafone will be AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","vfinternet.au"

then at the same site find your user id and password!

*99# will work on all nokia phones.
The xxxxxx is actually the access point name used by ur service provider.

yes but I didnt know that at the time. :-) and even if I did I tried calling my cust serv for about a week none even KNEW the phone could be a modem and not use thier software $$$$ so I just wanted to share :-)

the site in the post lists most servce providers and AP names along with the required passwords and user names.. < example.. I needed a pass and user id .. > :-)

ps. still posting via bluetooth modem on my nokia 3600... I LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, most service providers provide software for internet connection via ur phone modem and they charge u for it. That sucks!! Just like you, i wouldn't pay a cent for it. The settings are pretty straightforward and usually u would need the APN, userid and password, dns and the extra modem init strings. U can asked these from ur service providers, they should know these. If they dun, u can screw them upside-down. Lol!! Btw, those settings work for PDA and laptop as well.

Re-install modem and choose a free com port. Run diagnosis under settings....it shud tell u if ur modem is detected and working.

I right click on the bluetooth icon on the lower right by the clock ----> then go to dail up networking ---> then nokia 3650.... that bring ups the DUN sign on .. you can also add a shortcut to your desttop.

This is interesting. I was able to set up a modem connection to my computer using GSM. But if I follow the instruction and get connected with GPRS, will I be charged extra for data connection? I have a 3650 from T-Mobile. I'd love to have a faster connection through GPRS but not sure what the cost is. I ask them (t-mobile) once how I can set up for higher speed and they told me I have to use their t-zone service which sucks because there's no way I'm paying that much extra.

How much faster is GPRS connection when accessing internet? I get about 14.4 if I'm lucky with modem setup to dial into an ISP or my work RAS.

my speed with Cingular has always beeln at about 44k It was VERY comprable to home dailup speeds..

how much is t-mobiles unlimites gprs ser?

I find it worth it.. when the wife wants to go spend half the day at the mall.... I now go and instead of being in agony all day.. I simply set up at the food court and wait for her to be done spending my money...

I got a replay from Nokia support yesterday about this issue on doing this on Nokia 6600 and they besicly told me that it would never work becuase how the 6600 was build. So just forget about doing this on Nokia 6600.

I 'am so selling my 6600 when Sendo X is coming out..

well what about agile messenger. that has the possibility to connect via bt, tho it does work (lol) but SOMETHING happens coz the mRouter icon starts working for a few secs.... and then stops

if its impossible i wonder why the even added the possibility to do it in pc suite for 6600... pc suite supports it but not the phone... weird

Well, I tried it with Nokia 6800 and DKU-5 cable instead of bluetooth. I got on the internet but I see "G" at the top of screen. Doesn't it mean that I will be charged? Do you know?
