I have a faulty Motorola V66 coming to me soon and the problem is this.

The phone was working fine but was flashed and now when switched on constantly displays Insert SIM even when a SIM card is inserted.

I don’t know the history of the phone all I know is the above information.

How easy would this be to sort out?
My first thought was that it was barred as its not accepting sim cards or it is just a software fault and needs a reflash?

check the small pins on the sim card holder, not the ones that connect to the sim but the small metal switch which shorts out two pads on the sim holder. this is a switch which tells the phone when the sim is inserted, unlike the nokias etc you can remove the sim while the phone is in service, so they added a switch for safety, unfortunately.... its crap. its a common fault.
