What would it take to add the 1900 MHz band to a 900/1800 MHz phone? Is it possible to solder in a component to add the band? Has anyone attempted this?

I think it is not possible.. I think for exact details you need the service manuals and see what the exact differences are..
but it won't be just changing one chip..
