All right! After 4 months of waiting for the 6600, I finally got my 6600. Since I had a 3650 before, the operation didn't seem much different at all.

So... here goes...first the minus points.

1) The is a problem with the voice activated programs... some of the commands like "new message" executes but doesn't actually run.

2) my gprs is not working! There must be a bug in the 6600 software because my gprs works in other people's phones (tested on 3100, two 3530s, 3650, 6610). done by placing my simm in their phone and getting the settings message. (hutch service in AP)

This is why I can't even get any new themes from the nokia wap site. and I can't go to any yahoo! groups because India banned all yahoo groups (crazy huh?)...

can someone mail me any themes for 6600? [email protected]

3) Installed SonicN (n-gage) on my phone but can't seem to get the others like pandamonium, monkey ball, tombraider, or tony hawk skateboarding to work... pandimonium worked once but crashed after finishing level 01...then never worked again!

I want to put more than one ngage game on my 128 mmc card... how do I do that?!

4) Java support is horrible on the 6600... 70% of the java games I have don't work or crash after the main screen or have problems with sprite animation...!! And the games that do work have audio problems... ex. Interstellar flames>> works great but the audio is gone!?

5) Most of the symbian progs don't work...I really needed cameraFX or photographer to use the zooming feature even though 6600 comes "built-in" with one(it's not enough..the 2x zoom)....symbian games.... nope. just some, like nokia games...triple pop etc. work with poor audio. Does nokia have a bug with audio playback in games?

6) Sloooooow bootup! but worth it.

7) polyphonic is ok... but not up to the level of my SE z600.

now the cool things about 6600...

1) they fixed the ringtone problem from 3650 (sometimes it rang in silent even when it was in "sound mode").

2) the screen! wow! not an sharp or bright as my "old" sonyerricson z600 but hey! music videos are soooo cool to view on the 6600...

I'm currently using helix real producer 9 for conversion with the following settings...

realmedia 8
176 x 144 res
target frame rate 13
bit rate 128
11 kbps both music and voice codecs

does anyone else know any other settings for good clarity with smooth motion????

3) themes! but can't find them any where? if you have any then send 'em here.. [email protected]

4) a decent built-in file manager.. but nothing compared to seleQ or such programs.

5) I noticed a faster menu operation compared to my 3650...go figure?!

6) a ringtone folder in the mmc... so you don't have to fill up you phone memory with ring tones... 6600 can use any ringtones on the mmc if it's place in this folder...

My phone software info:
v 3.42.1
16-10-03
nhl-10

So I guess, I have the latest firmware?! is there a new one out?

if you have any suggestions about my problems above, by all means, share it. :0

Oh, if anyone has the symbian games by orca games like talon or IQ please email me.

CHEERS!

NGAGE

well I used a sis prog called "blzinstapp"...

first install this prog..which I guess is an unpacker.

then copy the ngage games as files with the extension *.blz in to the root of the mmc...

then run the blsinstapp prog...

then the ngage files at the mmc root show up... then choose install

SonicN -> installs all the way through and runs on the 6600 too!

pandimonium -> crashes at 10%

monkey ball -> crashes around 25%

Tombraider comes as a zip file... when uncompressed with paths...comes up as system folder with apps, libs, programs folders inside of it.

when I copy this folder to the mmc card... the game shows up in my phone but crashes as soon as it starts...

well, sounds like u haf lots of files in ur mmc root dir. juz send 1 game at a time, install one, den send the other. sometimes, ur handset wun let u install games, juz get ur frend's 3650, install it using his fone. its bound to work.

the lots of system files of tomb raider, u haf to send to e:/system/app/tombraider. send it file by file, create a folder called tomb raider 1st. good luck.

so is this what I do??

1) take my friend's 3650 mmc out and using a mmc reader and writer, copy the entire tomb raider folder to it.

2) send each file one by one via seleQ from the 3650 to my 6600.

3) once I recieve the file on my 6600, in my inbox. Use the "copy inbox" option in seleq and copy it into a folder I made for it in mmc's apps>> tombraider folder?

RIGHT?

The latest firmware version to be out is 4.09.1.....I guess u can get it updated from a Nokia Authorised Center.

U can download some cool free themes from http://www.mobile9.com/4images/categories.php?cat_id=92

I did that myself and I own 2 Nokia 6600....as far as Photographer software is concerned, I wouldn't recommend that for Nokia 6600....but u can try Flexi Cam Pro ver 0.72....I use it on my 6600 and it is fine with a good zoom capacity.....also check out this site http://tarek.typepad.com/mobtech/

This guy has really done some exploring on his 6600 and he has suggested some good applications to be used with 6600.

Hope this will be useful to u.

Appu.
