Hi,

I have a Nokia5210 which i would like to use with another simcard. With the original sim in the phone displays "sim reg failed". With other sim it asks for a pin code. I am able to access the main menu etc. with the original sim. I have an IRD thing and can communicate with the phone. So my question is: what do i need to do to use my other sim in the phone? Do i need a flasher cable or can i use the Ird?

Thanks for your time.

Ok, ive had a look round on the board and figured that i cant use an ir port and a flasher cable wont do much good. So an Mbus cable is my only option? Ive had a hunt round on the net and really cant be arsed ordering one so im gonna try my hand at making one. Ive had a look at the M2BUS cable schematic by Dejan Kaljevic '98 and ive got a few questions:
Does the 5210 only need the Rx, Tx, Grn and Mbus connected to pins? Where does the Rx and Tx come off the circuit?
Is there an equivalent component for the 78L05 (at www.dse.co.nz)?
How is the phone powered while the cable is in?

Thanks a bunch.

Hi,

Maybe if U wanna skip that cable stuff, U know about this idea?

Hey,

Yeah, ive tried that, got the code and entered it, but it still asks for a security code. Thanks for the advice tho.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try 12345....if it doesnt work..well U need Mbus cable and software..
Good luck!

hi,

i tried the 12345 code without effect, so i was wondering if some knowledgable person could tell me if the follow components are equivilent to ones found in the DEJAN KALJEVIC m2bus circuit.

for the 78L05 - a LM2940T-5 +5V 1A LDO Regulator

(Product Z6600 at http://www.dse.co.nz)

for the BC239C - a BC337 Output Amp NPN T/sistor

(Product Z2190 at http://www.dse.co.nz)

also for the caps ive got a Cap Electro RB 470uf and 47uf both at 16WV.
and both resistors are 1/4W 10k.

and can anyone answer my previous question about where the Rx and Tx come off the circuit, if they do at all?

im not too hot on circuitry, so i will be grateful of any help.

-Thanks

Hi
I've built one one these mbus ciucuits and it works 100%.

Concerning your problem with finding the proper parts i would suggest the following equivalents.

78L05 = LM7805 (1A can do. Required is only 1/2 A)
NB! You require a PNP Voltage regulator, Not a NPN.

Bc239c = I dont Have an onhand equivalent but i can find it out for you. However you can also use Bc239 without the "c". The Bc239 is a very popular transistor and should be available all over in any electronics shop selling electronic spare etc. I'm not too sure if the bc337 will work.
You could phone-in your local radishack and ask for the Bc239 and if they don't have it ask them to look up the equiivalent. Also remember to ask them if the pin configuration is the same eg. pin1=emitter pin2=Base pin3=collector.

Your caps and resistors look perfectly fine.

Regarding the RX Tx, It is not necesary. You only need two pins ie. Mbus and Gnd.
All the unlocking and logo programs use the MBus standard.
The Rx Tx is for Fbus cable which can do data at a much faster speed then the Mbus, but the unlocking programs do not support fbus Unlocking etc.

Hope you come right with it.

Thanks heaps, obeids.

I'll pick up an LM7805, but regarding the Bc239c my local electronics store (www.dse.co.nz) doesnt stock them, or even Bc239. So it would be handy if you could find another equivalent. I'll make up the circuit with the Bc337 and see if it works.

You'll probably hear from me soon enough, saying 'the bastard aint working'.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I made the cable with the bc337, its not working. It could be many reasons, one being the transistor, another my dodgy circuitry.
Is it possible to check that the cable is working? If so, how? (noktools just says "port is busy")

Also, does anyone know if the bc337 in a viable equivalent component? (there are no bc239's avaliable at my local store)

Thank you.

Well mate...dig the archives in general section for a post made by me: "build F/Mbus cable by your self" the schematic there is good woking and simple..I use it more than a year..anothr thing..:press search button /top right/ and type my nick name in the apropriate field..U will see all posts that I have here than U only need to find right one..
Good luck!

Thanks for your reply, Sergo_Zmeia...

but i cant find your original m/fbus cable post anywhere. Do you think you could repost the schematic you used, if it differs from the DEJAN KALJEVIC one? That would be a big help.
