you don't need any specific software just get a bluetooth dongle or a infa red port and sent it using the included software.

the tone will appear in the message inbox.

if you have nokia pc suite use that it will work, if you don't have it go to www.nokia.com and find what you need there.

if all u wanna do is send files to the phone, activate ur phone's ir and connect it with the computer, your computer should detect it. now, u can send any file (ringtones, images, etc) to ur phone by right-clicking the file and selecting 'Send to' > 'A nearby computer...'. you can also double click the IR icon in the taskbar and select the file u wanna send. and im taking bout windows xp btw.
