Satilite Phones

Anyone ever heard of these (you carry a little sat dish with u) you can only make phone calls out side with the sat towards the sky but all calles ect are free!!

Just wondered if any of you had heard about them?

my company has one they are the size of a small brief case. let me assure you the call are hardly free!!:)

Just out of curiosity, how costly are the calls? I assume it's the same price for anywhere at any given time, right?

What are the benefits? Global tracking, Network even in the most remote places & Fast data transfers from anywhere are what stand out the most ;)

I've only ever had contact with Satelites when I was in the army, measuring points via Satelite. We were in the Military Geography Institite, making maps.

Well the one im talking about the phone has been doctered all calls = 0p simple as but the phone & sat is £350 :(

The Sat phone in JP3 is much better and smaller ;)
