It’s my first time here, so ... Hello everybody (newbie indahouse )

Is there any way that I can emulate a 7210 phone on a PC ???
Why? To check some apps & games before uploading theme to de cell phone.

Another question …. I’ve got nhl5_552.exe, IR or cable, how can I update my firmware ???

Thanks and Merry xmas to u all :)

Yes you can, go to http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/1,6566,034-31,00.html

You need to download the file with the link above.

Then you have to register at Forum Nokia, to get a free Serial Number to use the program.

Then, you can test all the games and applications you want!

Hello :)

Upgrading the firmware is a process called "flashing" and gave NokiaFREE it's name.. that "FREE" stands for "Flash Reverse Electronic Engineering"! Many don't even know that :)

It can be done at Nokia Service centres, either for free if you have a bug in your current version (such as the phone keeps turning itself off or similar) or for a fee, if you just "want" the latest software version.

You can also do it yourself! You need a "Flasher" which can come in different forms.. either as a box (Griffin) which connects one end to the PC and the other to the phone (under the battery, not at the Pop-Port), or as a cable-style flasher ("China-Flasher") which as well connects one end to the PC and the other under the battery to the phone.

I don't know too much about the Griffin boxes, they are very expensive (a genuine Griffin costs 15.000 Baht here! That is 375 us$) and a fake Griffin still 5.000 Baht (125 us$).

The "China Flasher" (called so because it's usually "made in China") is far cheaper, here a model for 6610/7210/7250 phones cost around 1.500 Baht (37,50 us$).

Apart from the actual flasher, which is a piece of hardware, you will also need the flashing program (software) which can be downloaded at many places... search in the forums here, or on Google, for a DCT-4 flashing software.

Then you also need the actual flash file, which is that software to be put on your phone. These come in different versions, depending on what type of flasher you use.

Have a look at the "DCT-4 Flashing" section of the forum here, read a lot of older threads and then... good luck flashing! :)

Kind regards.....

Hello :)

Thanks to both of you for the nice comment......

I am just a simple guy who likes to help. I remember my own very first thread here..... i asked "how to flash a 5130", using a data cable that i just bought the same day and being unable to flash the phone with it.....

I asked simple and got a detailed reply!

And since then... i took that as an example, and do myself the same way... reply detailed, to give as much information as possibe, because that helps explaining things.......

i could have written, like some others.... "to upgrade your phone you need a flasher, a flashfile and knowledge, stop". Would that have been of much help? Even tough it is perfectly correct, it would not have been helpfull.......

With the help of the guys and girls here (Hello Nanda... you explained me the whole CDMA world!) i was finally able to build my OWN flasher and flash the 5130 with it, overcame the CS problem (without needing to post another thread, yes!) and even did my own modification to that flash file!

I can only say... NokiaFREE rules, and the participants, people like you and me who learn, keep learning and share newly learned things to newbies, we make it what it is... the most informative Nokia forum in the world!

Keep it going... i'll certainly do my part :)

Kindest regards.....
your Thanh

Another question, I know that it’s out of this context, but here it is …
I’ve been locking around and found a couple of programmes that state being capable of unlocking DCT-4 phones, like my 7210…
I also found many people complaining of not being successfully capable of unlocking with those codes …
I would like to unlock my phone … but in witch prog should I “trust”???
By yours experience, is there a prog that really works???
Witch one would you advise???

Once again, many thanks for yours great answers,
Best regards
