Oooh, my first post... (Wish me luck?)

Right guys & girls,

I have a 6600 and I have installed the data-suite on my pc. I also have a USB bluetooth dongle and no matter what I try, I can't get the software to connect. :-?

Any ideas or should I give up and buy a IR adapter?
I'm from the UK and if that's my next best option, suggestions of where to get a cheap one from would be much appreciated!

You have to be more specific. Which software doesn't connect, the data-suite or the one that came with the dongle ? Have you installed the bt-dongle correctly so that you can find it from Device Manager ?

After you've installed the dongle and paired it with your phone, you have to install the data-suite. Then you need to set up a serial port connection with your phone, which is done with the software that came with the dongle. Next go to the mrouter utility in the task bar, right-click it and select properties. Then select all the com-ports that are named Bluetooth. After this the mrouter utility should find your phone and the icon will change into colorful one. All you have to do after this is to start the data-suite program and it should show a connected-status.

Sorry, I though after I posted it i shoudl be more specific.

Most of this is from memory:

I'm running Win ME and the BT dongle software is "wave-linker". I can send/recieve items to and from my pc-to-phone and phone-to-pc.

It's the data suit that doesn't connect. I had the same problem with my 7650 data suite!

When I installed the dongle, I seem to get LOADS of devices in my device manager. ("BlueTooth Modem" being one of them)

I'll try what U suggested again and let U know if I have any success!

Thanks (VERY much)

Yay! (Kinda)

I tried playing with the settings for my dongle and found that it's listed as "COM Port 3" and I managed to get it to work after much "tinkering". I uploaded a few vids (converting them in the process). The software did crash when I tried to do upload/convert an MP3 but other than that it worked fine.

The only problem I have now is trying to figure out how I actually got it to work... I disconnected my phone, and tried to reconnect an hour or so later but it wouldn't do it! Hehehe! I'm sure I'll work it out again!

Thanks for your help!

Inox,

Thanks mate...

I downloaded the software but I'm a little funny about installing things on my PC without actually knowing what it is:

Please elaborate!

I'm guessing it's a BT driver, but how do I know it will work with my dongle?

Also what do i do with the other "cracks" I downloaded? And do I need to do anything with the *.dll ???

Any chance that you could take the time to write an "idiots guide" so I know exactly what I'm doing!

(God I'll be glad when I upgrade my PC to something more Y2K than 90's hehehe)

When the installation asks BT-dongle drivers click next and then copy these files to the right places:

wbtapi.dll
-> C:\windows\system32

BTStackServer.exe
BTTray.exe
-> C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth-software
(Folder where you installed the soft)
