First off I want to appologize if this is the wrong place to post this thread, but it made sense to me. I would have tacked this onto the original thread except it's been closed for a while now I think. I tried searching but was unable to find anything, but that doesn't mean it's not already there, so if it is, please post a link so I can just go there. The original thread is: http://nokiafree.org/forums/t4847/h/s.html
To get to the point of this post, I wanted to know how to make a 3-in-1 box mostly as I don't have any DCT4 phones, though I plan on getting one soon for my fiancee (She wants a color screen :p ) and so possibly a 4-in-1 cable.
In the thread it had been suggested to make a DCT4-Flasher-F/Mbus cable and I was wondering if any more thought has been put thought towards that.
I checked the good dr's site, but could find the 3-in-1 cable, but a DCT4 cable is there as well. I was looking at it, but I'm not much of an electrician and also am not sure how the DCT4 cable works so I can't figure any ways to combine them together. I'm going to research how the DCT4 cable works to try and see if I can come up with anything but was thinking of perhaps a hard switch just to get it started, but I don't know where to put it.
I also had a question about the 3-in-1 cable. I've seen other flasher cable schemes that call for less wires coming from the DB25 cable allowing it to be used with a PS/2 style connector. I am wondering if they just have the DB25 pins that go to VCC all hooked to the same PS/2 pin? I don't have the schematic sitting in front of me at the moment, but I think if doing that, it reduces the wires to 6.
The reason I'm asking this is I bought a flasher and F/Mbus set of cables that have PS/2 ends and would like to hook them to a box and have the end that goes to the phone another PS/2 connector to plug the phone ends cables into so that I don't have to switch cables depending on what phone I'm working on, just plug it in and then plug the end needed for the phone in and possibly flick a switch if needed and presto.

Sincerely,
Gorgarath

Hrmm... It seems I've read that flashing DCT4 now can be done with a regular Fbus cable? Is this correct?

Also, does anyone have the .SCH and/or .PCB files of the good doc's 3-in-1 cable?

Thanks,
Gorgarath

Ok, well I realize now that no matter how hard I try, I will not get a 4-in-1 cable running through a PS/2 from the LPT port to the circuit. Unless my understanding of the doctor's schematic for a DCT4 is completly off, it needs almost all 25 pins coming into the PIC.
And unless I'm missing something, I can't convert the 3-in1 DB25 connection to work with a PS/2 connection. Ah well, I'm still gonna keep looking at it and hope someone has some suggestions to help me out.
I need to re-read the thread and find out where to hook an external power source to as well. And possibly add another LED. Then I'll have 1 for power, 1 for Flasher, 1 for F/Mbus or maybe even split that up for fun and have 4 LED's.

Hope at least someone reads this who can help shed some light on this for me. Or come up with more ideas.

Cheers,
Gorgarath

Actually, I may have figured out how to get this working with the PS/2 cables. I don't know if this will work or if it's even a good idea, but could I just completly remove internal power? I could add a USB or a PS/2 cable to this to power it instead. I plan on using this on a laptop anyway, and as such, laptops often don't supply enough power via com/lpt ports anyway and would most likely benifit from another source of power. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,

Well...first bout dct3 flasher cable....the point of ps2 socket is that its alow U to change the leads /heads/ for different models /33xx,61xx.62xx,82xx ect./ This flasher is buil with 74hc14 chip...I dont have the schematik infront of me but there are 4 wires: Rx,Tx, gnd...4 cant remember..any way..if U go to dct3 flashing upgrading moding..there is a threat with disscusion exatly bout this cable.....
Bout dct4 flasher..check here:www.id2.cz
This site is in cheh..but there is fuul schematic and PCB /hardware section..and its typed in english dct4 cheap flasher/... if U are familiar with russia I can give U a link with full guide how to build this flasher...
Hope that helps a little bit..

I did a search in that thread and couldn't find any posts about the cable, I aslo tried looking by hand for a few hours. Read a lot of other good posts, but none in regard to this cable. The only place I found a thread on it is in the now closed section, Nokia Free Archive. I have the link to it in my first post. I was hoping by posting here I might catch the good doctor's eye and get some ideas from him, but he's busy elsewise I'm sure. I had a few ideas eariler today, well yesterday I guess it would be now, but it's just a little before 4am and I can't remember exactly what they were. Hopefully when looking at the schematics, they come back as I'm to much of an idiot to jot down my thoughts. I trust my memory waaaay to much sometimes. I should know that doesn't work by now, but I seem to keep forgeting that... :p

I really need a life outside of technology... I wonder if I can buy one online somewhere.....

Hehe, yes, but it is not the one I am refering to. There are a bunch of simple mbus, f/mbus, and flasher cable schemes on here, and I have a copy of most, but not too many combination 3-in1 cables, at least not ones garunteed to work like Dr.Bizar's is. Guess I'll have to try e-mailing him and posting final results up here.
