OK,

I can get a GPRS connection from my laptop via my 6610 (IR) but I can't get anything to show in Interent Explorer. Task manager, and the connection status, show data sending and receiving but the recieved data is low (about 300Kb for every web address request).

I'm using at+cgdcont=1,"ip","payandgo.o2.co.uk" in modem settings (although I don't understand what this means) and I've turned all the options I can find on/off with no helpful effect. :-?

Any ideas, anyone out there using a GPRS connection on their PC via their 6610?

Many thanks,

(ps GPRS works fine using the 6610 wap browser. Running XP Home)

Your main problem is that you are using the O2 pay and go connection and this can't be used for "normal" web browsing.

If you want to use the phone for web browsing you will have to get one of the data contracts that O2 offer I am on data 5 for 9.40 a month allows me 5 MB of transfer (which is ideal for e-mail) but if you want to use it for web browsing I would recommed a traiff with a larger amount of free transfer.

Why can I surf the net and download files (games/apps) on my 6610 all day at no cost? One can even access standard web pages (if a little messed up).

Seems odd I can't do the same but using a PC based web viewer.

Thanks anyway for the info.

Are you using the 6610's built in browser?

its a WML viewer and won't display html files properly (as you have already found out)

When you connect from the phone you use O2 server and it is set to block requests not coming from the phone directly if you are using a pay and go account.
