puk codes cannot be calculated like unlock codes.

the puk is written encrypted in the simcard.

the only way you can get the puk code is by calling the service provider and ask them for it. they will ask you a few questions to make sure you are the owner of the sim, and they will give you the code.

if you are not the owner of the sim, you can't do anything since you can't read the puk out of the simcard, not even with a simcard-reader.

sometimes the puk code is 12345, but don't try too many times

@quikSI
there is not default value for the PUK code, and also it is 8 digit long.
what you are talking about is the security code, which its default is 12345.

@v0lrath
in israel too.. don't understand why not all of the providers give the puk code.

@ease
forgot to say it before, you have 10 wrong attempts. after that the simcard will be dead ("simcard rejected" message will be displayed) and you'll have to replace it with a new one.

I had a cell in Greece with Vodafone and when you get the sim card you get the PUK1 and PUK2 codes.

Now i got a tmobile USA and no PUK's. But you can set the security for it in a Nokia and change the default code 1234 or whatever...

The PUK 1 & 2 Codes (8 digits) are the master lock codes for the sim cards pin 1 & 2 Security codes (4 digits), in Canada & US (not sure about Europe) these codes are not given with the sim cards, however if you take the phone into your dealer, with photo ID (to prove you own the phone) the dealer will then phone the service provider, and get the code for you. Most dealers do this free of charge. (hope this helps!)
