This subject remains vague for many so i'll try to explain how to do it. This is totally free because i've checked my net usage on my phone account and it hasnt moved a bit. I've also took precaution and erased all the access points for my ATT GPRS so there is no way it can connect to the net through there.

1. install a bluetooth dongle and all its drivers
2. pair computer with phone, authorize the connection and remember your computer's name that you use to pair the phone with.
3. install pc suite

in your phone

4. go to settings->connection->access points
5. options->new access point->use default settings

connection name: (whatever you ex. bluetooth dsl)
data bearer: GPRS
Access point name: your computer's name, the same name that shows up when you pair the bluetooth with the phone.
user name: none
prompt password: no
password: none (leave alone)
authentication: secure
gateway IP add: 0.0.0.0

6. now go back and you should see the access point you just set up.
7. go back to connection settings->GPRS

GPRS connection : When needed
Access point: your computer's name, the same name that shows up when you pair the bluetooth with the phone.

8. install Opera (internet browser)
9. turn on bluetooth and connect your phone with PC suite
10. if you've done all of these step properly you can now use the internet on your phone via bluetooth connection.
11. thank me. =]

*Note i am using a N-gage so i'm not sure if it will work on different phones but the concept should be the same. Oh, and i'm using a belkin F8T001 bluetooth adapter. belkin works great, it has all the profiles for pc suite to work*

when i say free it means i dont have to pay the initial $2.99 charge and .02 cents for every kilobit downloaded to my phone company. the bluetooth routes the internet connection from my dsl to my phone. if youre skeptic try it for yourself or check this link out

uuuummmm i dont want to sound negative but since the only way to do this is by bluetooth which means you need to be which 10 metres of your computer, wouldn't it just be quicker to use the computer in the first place? not to throw water on it because i've done it myself

I would like to know if anyone has been able to do this with out using pc suite? also is there a way to establish a bluetooth connection without having to use pc suite its such a pain to get connected. Also for you people with gprs connections you need to set your phone to offline or flight mode what profile or setting it is that turns off your gsm network. thats why the "g" is still there you will be charged. but if anyone can come up with a solution to activating your pc suite connection remotely (not physically at the pc) please let me know. It does work like a charm and its good for me cause i have tmobile usa and the gprs is lacking cant connect to alot of things on it.

I dont know if they are identical. Is flight mode a profile? Well I know on the ngage that when i select "offline profile" for the first time the bluetooth was not on i just had to turn it on. I also like to have to backlight on "always" but if I use eProfiles you get an error if you try and modify offline profile, but with smart profiles you can the only bad thing abount smart profiles sometimes it does stay "on" after a restart but i can deal with that.

This doesn't work this way and especially not for the 6600 for the 7650 and the 3650 there is a program named wap gateway simulator that can be downloaded FREE from the official Nokia Forum. The reason why it doesn't work on the 6600 is that it has wap 2.0.

ok, well I've posted a 'How To' here a few weeks back for connecting the Ngage to the Net via your PC Connection.

You'll find answers to most questions here in this thread;
http://www.n-gage-help.com/ftopict-107.html

it covers problems with firewalls and connection problems and what Mrouter actually does when it helps connect the Ngage to the net.

Did you guys know Mrouter makes a Hybrid Bluetooth network off your computer ? hence why you can access the net (if your PC is connected of course). It creates a Gateway at this address 169.254.1.68 and 2 DNS servers at 169.254.1.65 and 169.254.1.66 but these Ip addresses are not necessary to enter in your settings. (I dont have a 6600 to test but i bet you need to enter these settings to make it work or use a program called IPView to get the addresses.

cheers ;)

oh and btw don't forget another reason for this is not only cheap net access but true multiplayer gaming over the net....posting High scores etc...

OK...I must have misunderstood how this works. I thought this was a way to get internet through GPRS without paying. That is able to use the phone as a modem with GPRS connection therefore getting higher speed for free. I didn't know this was the other way around....getting your phone to have internet access by using your computer's internet access. Sure this might be cool to have...but I don't see a need for it as much as the other way around :) I would like to have internet access through my cell phone as a modem. Right now I have t-mobile gsm which is too slow to be useful.

it's great work, if it works i can be in watching tv and post icq messages, and i don't need to run to the computer everytime i get a message, and it's free since a already have internet on my computer, and i don't need to pay extra money for surfing on my phone..

TNX to damnyooneek =)
