Hi All,
I'm a little new here and I've been having problems piecing together what I have read. So I'm going to ask straight out.
I got a Rogers AT&T 3595 Ready4U phone that is unactivated. I want to transfer my current phone number over to this new phone. My question is:
1. Can I use the SIM card that comes with the package?
2. How can I unlock it so that when I call in to transfer my number, it will work?
Thanks

give us your imei, and we can give you the unlock code to enter into your phone. Once that is done, you will be able to stick your existing roger's sim card into the phone, and bam, it will work with your existing phone number, its so easy, even a child could do it.

Unfortunately, I am on TDMA currently so I don't have a SIM card. What I need to do is USE the sim card that came with the package (Ready4U). Do you know if I can do that?
Thanks in advance

Hey,
I too had a 3595 Ready4U... (i bet you waited in line at best buy as well)...anyways, you CAN use the SIM card...in fact, you HAVE to because you had TDMA before (like myself). These are the steps I took.
1. Called Rogers AT&T to transfer my phone (ESN change....just tell them your imei and SIM card numbers, don't tell them that it is a ready4u.)
2. Write down on this board your IMEI number and service provider....they'll post you unlock codes.
3. Follow the unlock code steps EXACTLY (you have to remove the SIM card...I didn't and it still worked, but i wouldn't chance it).
4. After the phone is unlocked, since you've already done your ESN change, you're good to go.
Good Luck.

I just got a brand new Ready4U 3595 that is unlocked. What is the best way to get it set up with Rogers as a Pay-as-you-go phone? Will they know by the IMEI that it is supposed to be R4U and refuse to set me up as PAYG? Should I ask to have my curent PAYG phone number transferred to the new phone (from older non-SIM phone)?
Thanks for any suggestions.
I know this worked for the previous poster - but what is generally the 'safest' way to go about it. I've heard that some people make up IMEI numbers to avoid questions.

I just do it with the SIM thay come with the package to use it as spare where my Fido phone doesn't work.
Very easy you go to their web site and click to wireless products and activate your phone
You select a GSM phone in the list (it dosen't matter) and enter emei and sim card number and the others things theyt ask.
You can give false informations but use a real email adress because they will send you a mail with your phone number and secret code.
In 24-48 hrs your phone will work and they even give you 20$ credit on the card!

OK, you need to do the following:
A) unlock your phone from the link on the top of this page
B) Do an ESN to IMEI Change, you may loose your voice mail or reset its password after the switch, its a known problem and the CSR can fix it. If you do an ESN-IMEI swap through SalesCentral, you can not get it back, you need a live CSR to fix it. You can either give them the IMEI number of your R4U phone, or just give them a generic 111111111111119
C) once your account is added to the sim, you can stick it in the 3595, and your service will continue.
If you have any problems about B) or C), please call 416-935-5555 mon-fri, excluding sundays and statutory holidays, or call *611 from your rogers phone.
For help on A) contact the people in the unlocking section of the DCT4 forum.

Iit is possible to activate the 3595 R4U on Pay As You Go. The activation script for Pay as you go, automatically gives out subsidy unlock codes.
Try the rogers web site, and if you dont see 3595 listed, choose 3590 instead, it may still work, if not, then you still have other ways of unlocking the phone, through the DCT-4 Calculator link located on the top of this page.
