a800 strange problem

i have one samsung a800 with a problem, my brother bought a new phone and when put the sim card, not work but with the old phone yes, then for testing if the problem was the sim card, i put the card in my a800 and neither work, but the surprise was when i insert my card and all appears in english (normally is in spanish), if i go to the menu and select spanish languaje, nothing change
any idea?

do you really think that for testing another card is necessary to flash the phone?
i remember long time ago when i unlocked my sgh2100, all appears in english, then i input the eprom code reset and all return to the normality (the menus in spanish), but with this phone don't work this code
