Using 3 Sim With N-Gage?

As anyone tried to get a 3 (UK) Sim working with the N-Gage. Completely depressed being tied to this network with what was supposed to be a great phone Moto A920 :-?

When I've tried putting the sim in it just rejects it even though the phone is unlocked. Is there anything that can be done to either th eN-Gage or the 3 Sim to get it to work.
