Can anyone out there know how to add thai language into Nokia 3315? I recently brought a Nokia 3315 but it didn't come with the thai language in the language selection. I wished to find out any ways or methods to add the thai language to handset that I brought. So that I can use the T9 for the thai text input for handset.

Did you buy the 3315 in a store?
Wierd that a phone in your country doesn't come with your language...

Anyway, you need a flasher AND data cable for the 3310 (Ask around for someone that sells them in your country, or ucables.com does international orders I beleive).

The 3315 is a 3310 with extra features.

You will also need MCU+PPM files (Coresponding to your language) from here: (http://nokia.sno.at/full%20flashes/3310/5.57/) (Thai is pack G)

I'm not sure there is a T9 dictionary for the 3310, however I could be wrong, I also checked the PPM package info at the URL I posted here and there is no T9 in the list unfortunately... however I could be mistaken, correct me if I am.

I would use Nokia DCT3 Flasher by Rolis to flash the files to the phone, then use kNok Pheonix 1 to convert 3310 to 3315, then Nokia Tool by Jordik to set FAID, restore factory settings (UI, Phone Settings) set the IMEI to the IMEI in the phone.

Then you would have a phone with the Thai language pack :)

Hi Shidoshi

I look at the Nokia 3310, there is a T9 dictionary but only have English for it to select and the Nokia 3315 T9 dictionary have English and Malaysia for it to select . I am not sure whether when I download the thai language, will I have the T9 dictionary to have thai language for it to select.

No, no...

What I meant is that there is a pack (G) that has Thai, but there is no pack with Thai T9, only English T9...

I just didn't explain very well, sorry :)

Hi...Merlin

R u Thai? Do u live in Singapore now?

1. In Thailand, 3310, 3315 and all Nokia phone don't have T9 dictionary for Thai. They have only T9 for English. SonyEricsson T68i is only T9 for Thai in Thailand.

2. If ur window can read Thai, u can enter http://se-ed.net/deacha2000/ which is a Thai GSM Forum and u'll find any solutions in there.

3. I think u can flash 3310 v.5.57 which have Thai input, not still have Thai T9, but don't forget to backup ur 3315 firmware too.

If u have any questions, mail to me [email protected].

Hi Basten,

I am a Singaporean. I want to buy the Nokia 3315 for my wife who is a Thai. I brought the handset from the local handphone shop and the staff have told ne that the handset didn't have the thai language in the language selection. The staff told me that I could maybe try to add the thai language in to the handset from the Nokia care centre. I called up the Nokia care centre, the staff told me that they didn't have the software to add the thai language into Nokia 3315 and all the Nokia 3315 that sold here in Singapore didn't have the thai language. And only those handsets that made for Thailand have the thai language in them. So I wish to find out from you that you have the software for the thai language for Nokia 3315 that sold in your country as I can add into the Nokia 3315 that I brought in Singapore. Thank you.

Hmm...

If the T9 dictionary exists for another Nokia phone, surely someone has made a custom 3310 flash file somewhere...

If not, someone could make one... not sure how to make a T9, but surely someone does... also as Basten sugested, maybe you could go to the Thai forum and ask if someone has a T9 PPM pack you could get?

-Dave

For what I've read, you can make one by copying another phone's LDB flash chunk to yours. (using ppmmanager)

Hmm...

That's interesting actually... could you be a little more specific?
How is this done?

Well.. iff you split your flash file into chunks using ppmmanager, you get like more than 10 files or so.. one is named *blabla*_LDB or something.. that's the file (for what I presumed) containing the t9 language database.
If you replace this with a LDB from another phone (containing your wanted T9 dict.), you can probably use it in your phone.
After this, you ofcourse need to update the ppm checksums, but that's obvious.

Hmm...

Neat, I'll test that out.

yes, you can add t9 in this way ,but it is not as easy as you say.read this old thread for more details http://nokiafree.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2719&highlight=8210+dictionary:

Hi...Merlin

I don't have original 3315 firmware. I'm not sure that it have T9 dictionary for Thai. If it is firmware which use 3310 up 3315, I'm absolutely sure that it doesn't.

U try to download here again http://ftp.rimc.ac.th/~sujin/. Some files are 3315 added 67 ringtone but I'm still not sure they are original 3315 or 3310 up 3315.

Don't forget to backup ur firmware before u flash the download file.

Hmm...

This has been discussed here several times on the forum... It's been said that the 3315 is really 3310 v4.45 and up...

Haven't heard anyone say that the original 3315 hardware is different to the original 3310 Hardware, since they both work the same (ok, other then the obvious X-Press on covers :))

Taking this into consideration, if you were to flash your 3315 with 3310 v.5.57 and convert it to a 3315 as you would normally do on a 3310 then you would have the same deal...

Hi,

Where can I get a cheap and good data cable?
Which type of data cable to buy?
And how to connect the data cable from pc slot to handset?
Do I need special slot or port to connect the data cable from the cpu?

Shidoshi

Hmm...

You need a flasher cable and a data cable (for 3310 of coarse)
ucables.com has what you want.

The cable(s) plug into you LPT (for flash) or COM (for undating faid, resetting settings, unlocking, etc...) and just plugs into the phone.

You see the 5110 for example, you plug it into the bottom where you see all the contacts, but the 3310 is a special one, you remove the battery and you see 4 contacts under the battery, you place the battery on the cable and plug both into your phone, making sure the battery contacts touch the pins.

You don't need any other hardware to do this, just the cables will do.

Hi,

Which type of flasher cable and a data cable to buy as I heard them there is two type on the market now.

Shidoshi
30-08-2002, 05:21 PM
Hmm...

Try 'The 3310 Flasher cable' and 'The 3310 MBus cable'.
If the MBus cable is F/MBus, make sure it's manual switchable and not auto switchable.

There might be, never heard of it though.
You could be confusing Flasher with F/Mbus or FBus with MBus, etc...

Just one word of advice, has nothing to do with this post, or maybe it does:

Don't believe everything you hear. (I learned to comply with this theory :))

-Dave

P.S. One more thing to add to this post:

The 3310 cables work with the 3310, 3330, 5510 phones too, you can upgrade firmware, unlock, change language packs, upgrade phones, etc...

Hmm...

After reading my post I realised I seem somewhat patronising... I've done it in most of my posts so it seems. Sorry if this seems so, but it's not my intention.

I'm just a friendly person, trying to be friendly :)

Hi to all,

Today I just went to one of the Nokia shop and they download the thai language into my Nokia 3315. I tried and the thai language is inside, but the simple chinese text have being changed into tradition chinese text. I tried to use the chinese text to key in the chinese text, it cannot work. But I changed to thai language and use the sms, the thai language work well and I can use the thai text to send sms. Too bad I cannot use the simple chinese text anymore to key in the sms text and also to the phone book as both read only simple chinese text. To those who want to have thai language in their handset, please prepare to lose the function to send sms in simple chinese text as the tradition chinese text cannot work in the sms funtion and the phone book function. Please prepare to gain one but lose some of the sms and phone book function of using the simple chinese text. As there is nothing perfect in the world, until someone can get both thing at one phone. If there is someone, please reply to the forum and voice out your method and ideas.

@Merlin
it is easy to add the chineseSim into the ppm that you have with thai text and thai T9(for sms input),to view chineseSim,but it hard/can't to add chineseSim T9 to input chineseS sms.

Hi,

All I want is to able to key simpler chinese text when I have change to simpler chinese language and able to use the function to name the person in the phone book in simpler chinese and sending sms in simpler chinese text. And when I want to use Thai language to send sms, I just have to change to Thai language and I can able to use Thai text to send sms. As for the T9 for both Thai and simpler chinese text is a benefit to all. So I am try to source for who have the ability to do so that is to have both simpler chinese text and Thai language in the handset for the language selection.
