flashing 3390 with madOS using winXP is it possible?

hello,
I've been trying flash my 3390 with the madOS using rolis flasher 4.78
i'm using WinXp, which is guess isn't supposed to work. and at first the program wouldn't even load. but i changed the compatibility mode to win98/ME and then program opened. now when i hit the 'read' button it just says "press power on shortly..." down at the bottom and wont go away.

so obviously no matter what I do i can't get rolis 4.78 to work under Winxp.

so is there an alternative program that WILL work in WinXP?

any help would be much appreciated.

ok, i found the post that describes how to use this software with winxp. and i was able to get rolis to recognize the phone and everything, but it wont take a proper backup of the phone?

i have a US 3390 the one that comes with AIM.

is it possible to get madOS installed so that this phone will still function as a phone, and get all the other cool features of the madOS?
