hi
i have a problem with one 8310 and one 8210 too, the problem is that the phone works ok but when i try to make a call , the phone gives me three beeps and finish the call.
i have seen that problem in enough nokias and in other manufacturer too, but not so many.
can anybody tell me anything about that?
thanks

your phone had been put into the blacklist, all the networks work together using a common data base known as the blacklist, and when a phone is reported stolen the imei is placed in this database, meaning when you boot your phone the network rejects your imei, meaning when you dial out you get the beeps, you can change the imei but you could also end up in jail!

you've got it the wrong way round the 8210 can have its imei changed at the click of a button, but the 8310 stores its imei in a once programmable chip meaning the imei can not be changed, unless of course you change the chip, which is a very skilled job involving lots of soldering!

i have the same problem and mine is not a blacklisted phone, it is a hardware fault or maybe a corrupt flash file, i have seen this happen on many 8310 phones, i think it may need to be reflashed with NEELIXII box, i read somewhere that this NEELIX thing sorts this kind of problem but it is a bit expensive

i told you it was expensive just check this link out http://www.ttsunlock.com/neelix3/index.shtml
i wasnt aware of NEELIX 3
There is possibly a problem with the phone, I've seen 3210's, 7110's, 8210's and 5210's do this over the years. It's usually down to a chip in the phone which becomes faulty..possible dry joint? anyway, I cannot remember which chip (hagar? springs to mind for 8210?) but it will give the symptom described in the first post.
Forgot to add, if you are on Orange in the UK, it will briefly register the sims, about 10-30 seconds and then drop the network and display something like "sims registration failed", On the other networks, T Mobile, Voda, etc, it will usually show the network and a good signal, some of the networks will even allow you to send text's, but try to make a call and you will get the three bleeps and signal drop.
Hope this helps, and for those who have "warm" phones, hope this helps you hand them in where they may be re-united with their owner :)
