Hmm...

You sure it isn't the battery?
Or the charger?

You should check and possibly clean regardless if they are clean or not, the contacts at the bottom of the phone where the charger touches the phone and the battery contacts.

I've had to replace the gizmo where the charger plugs into the phone on a 3210 once, I wasn't able to clean it so I just replaced it.

go to www.gsm-free.com and download the nokia service manuals. open the 8310 one and locate on the layout diagram the SMT fuse right next to the power connector, it will probably be blown. Bridge it or replace it but check your charger as this can blow the fuse.
