8210 signal and no operator logo...PLZ help

ive bought a 8210 off ebay but it has a reception problem

When i put a sim in and turn it on there is no signal bar and no operator logo.

There are no screen problems

what could it be???

i just took it apart and made sure the antena is touching.

I turned it on and it started to get a signal and the BTCELLNET logo was shown for a few seconds


does this hep, is there someone who knows

if you get network for like a second and it immediately drops to nothing... you probably need to recalculate FAID. Use m-bus cable to do it. Not so hard hard. Use eeprom tools from b-phreaks or Rolis 1.8 or Nokiatool3.21 by jordik or whatever you want.

i have recalculated the faid, i think, using noktool. It still does the same thing, but now seems worse.

any one know how to fix this

Describe exactly what happens when you switch on the phone.
What software version is on the phone?
Did you flash new software on it already?

Before messing anymore... take a full backup.. including eeprom.

You have flasher cables right?

When i turn the phone on the signal bar rises and then there is no signal at all and the operator logo disaperars. This is continiued over and over.


the software shown is V 5.11.09-12-99.NSM-3.(c) NMP

i dont know how to make a backup - is the phone disabled now

nokia tool by rolis ver 1.8

Still sounds like faid problem to me.

If you have a flash cable you can make a backup with rolis 4.77 or 4.78b6.

I suggest you make a full backup (200000-400000)
then flash mcu and ppm to v5.31 than calculate faid.
But not sure ... might be something else...

After you have update faid, still having problem to get signal correctly, it will be hardware problem, I've a 8210 with the same problem too. Flash and upgrade and update faid many time, still having the same problem. After that i check with the hardware, and i found that it is the gsm autoswitch problem. The small ic just opposite the PA.

You better return it to ebay or sent it to phone shop to repair.
