Does ne1 know if its possible to remove/replace the screen of a 6600? I have had 1 for about a month now and it has a few minor scratches on it. They are only minor, but its a bit annoying as its so new! My old 3650 screen used to get scratched but that was easy to fix by just getting a new fascia, which isn't an option for the 6600. If not replaceable, does ne1 know a good method to buff minor scratches out? Any help will be appreciated, cheers!

why don you try rubbing it with toothpaste... it cleans the screen clear and buffs it mildly.. then use a plastic screen cover to prevent future scratches

The toothpaste trick is great. I thought someone was taking the piss first, but using toothpaste, a small ammount of water, and a microfibre cloth does the job.

Yup your correct just add a little amount of water and toothpaste will work fine... if you look at the consistency of this paste it has small beads just enough to fix small scratches... makes it look shinny and clean... this is no joke...

Here in the Philippines, the 6600 cover is replaceable. If you notice, the 6600 has no screws at the back. Actually, the front cover is attached snugly with no screw at all so if you have the proper tool and skill, you can actually pry-off the cover of the 6600 fairly easily! But remember, dont try this without proper tool and skill, otherwise you will ruin the edge of the phone and make it very ugly. Here in Greenhills, Philippines there are available colored replacement front and back cover for 6600 - it is not original Nokia made, its Taiwan/China class A "imitation". The quality and fit of these imitations are very good- almost like original. The cost is only 250 pesos (about 5 US$), they even install it while you wait for free! My 6600 is now "metallic green" front and back- cool!!!

Guys, please be careful with the toothpaste solution mentioned in this thread. You should rub it very carefully or else you will end up with more scratches on your 6600 screen. Preferably, use Colgate or other brand of white tootpaste. The colored toothpaste, like Close-up brand does not work very well.

I dunno how to attach pics on this thread because everytime I attempt to add a jpg file it does not allow it...

its pretty easy once you know how to do it, i learnt from maddog on this forum :) :D

at the back of the phone, underneath the battery, there are 2 circle holes, shove a paper cliip or something in there and it'll loosen the side, run your fingers through and bang! done like a dinner, the 6600 is open, exposing the screen, keypad and all the internals.

I heard of an idiot who used Dremel or something to fix the scratches on his Nokia 6800. Turns out, that his phone screen has a huge hole in it ...

He posted the event at Howard Forums somewhere ...

If your planning to rub it with toothpaste just be very careful not rubbing to hard or you might get more scratches... and be careful on rubbing the sides of the clear plastic glass cause this is somewhat painted when you rub it hard the paint come off also

hi,
i can't seem to find the 2 holes under the battery. there are 2 holes either side of battery (one of them is right by the bottom left corner of battery (whilst it's in the phone)). i've pushed a paper clip down both of those holes (goes in about 5mm) but that doesn't seem to do anything.
thanks,
rob
