View Full Version : [MADos] Bugs and new ideas

Please post here you're bugs or new ideas for MADos

If you have bugs, please post your phone type (3310 new) and use the latest version of MADos. If you use the EMBED mode, please include your software version also...

Bugs:

-When using the reboot option, phone resets but asks for time and date?
Also, the screensavers timeout is set to 5 seconds...

-In the scope app, you can control the ÁS with your up and dwon keys, but when you're at 0ÁS and press the down key, phone hangs and reboots

-After 5 minutes or so in the Apps menu, MADos hangs and reboots (strange, strange), I have this problem very often...

-High power consumption, my batt went down in 5 hours

I use 33xx old, 6.07B

New ideas

-Background screen
Now, if you start MoS, you see the menu screens. But a screen with battery bars and a animating background like the stars screensaver and a clock would be much nicer :d

-IR control :-o
Some MBUS controlled scheme with a PIC that has the same functions like IR remote
mmm

-The scope function:

*The ÁS function: You only can chose +ÁS but not -ÁS...
*A "VOLTS/DIV" function 'd also be great
*Place the frequenty and "period time" also in the Scope screen

phone date/time:
- known issue, someone has to check....

scope bug:
- will have a look at it soon

reboot:
- i saw MADos rebooting after 4063 seconds (appt -> time since... )
someone has to check what causes some overflow or any other error

batt:
- i think the problem is the charger... i wish someone knows how to charge batteries since i dont...

background:
- nice idea :) but currently i dont have much room to do... (spaceimpact?)

IR control:
- do it ;)

scope:
- -Ás ?
- jep surely would :)
- therefore you have freq measurement :)

BOEBOE
26-01-2004, 08:30 PM
Yes, if you go to the Scope app and select the "Scope" mode, you can control the ÁS with the down arrows, but when the valua is 0ÁS, and you press the down arrow, phone hangs...
But instead a showing more signals one screen why not less signals...
Then you would -ÁS... instead of +ÁS

And another day playin' with MADos :)

Bugs:

*Sine signals aren't displayed correctly sometimes
You can see this when you connect your charger to the phone, the curves
sometimes are interrupted

*In the Test menu, you've coded a menu string that scrolls, but phone does
sometime not respond to UP/DOWN buttons

*Tetris: When you make a new row, sound is played or just a 'tick'

*When you charge the phone vibra function directly go to 100% and the
contrast sound isn't working anymore

*Suddenly phone reboots and shows CONTACT SERVICE

*Is it normal that when the screen are out, the keypad LED's still are working?

Add:

*Sound off mode
Almost got my GSM caught in class when playing tetris...

*Standby mode
When you shut down MADos, contrast values are changed, or when you
play a game and shut down your phone, game state isn't saved *duhh*
So it'd be nice to have some shortcut that the LCD goed out, and LED's and
that the sound mutes, games are paused, but processor is still working

*EEPROM
To save the contrast values,...

*Scope
Because there's some diode protection inside the phone, you can't see the
signals below zero... Just a "pulsating" DC voltage, so i'd be nice if you add
a "virtual" sinus below zero...

I appreciate all your work for this

JUST CONTINUE

how about a load tester for mados that would be kewl, also u got them phones yet as i have not heard either way if u have or not , please let me know then i can phone up and get them tracked

Maybe u could add support for some older fones, like 3210, 7110 ?

29-01-2004, 06:07 PM
yeeah , IR remote , would be cool if we could make embed.fls for 6210 ... ;]
and maybe some support for simple games in java ;) ? but this i think would be a problem.

##-When using the reboot option, phone resets but asks for time and date?

i think, when nokia shut down the phone it's not really off. the time goes on. but when we shut down the phone, it's completly off. i think the date/time is stored in ram and ram is overwritten by mados.

##-In the scope app, you can control the ÁS with your up and dwon keys, but when you're at 0ÁS and press the down key, phone hangs and reboots

it's easy to repair, but i don't wheter it has influence to the speed

## *In the Test menu, you've coded a menu string that scrolls, but phone does
sometime not respond to UP/DOWN buttons

i saw this also, when i reworked kpd_readkey i will take a look into it.

saving contrast values, game highscores ... g3gg0's working on a filesystem. with that it shouldn't be any problem.

sound off mode, i also will create, as soon as readkey works correctly.

java games environment. not easy and not sensefull ;) takes lot of CPU, much flash space and a lot of work.

Hi to all
i was just wondering if there is any way to get a MADOS program to work on a 8850
i would like that a lote

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can just flash an 8850 -> 8210
so just flash 8210 MADos to your phone

and if you want to integrate it just integrate with an 8210 flash

Danny

instead of searching for bugs you could fix them...
it seems only 4 persons take care of MADos... thats not much
if i see how many people want it working correctly..

Yes, we know g3gg0

But we all are C noobs... We only can try...

Look, the reason of this thread is that you CAN fix these bugs

You needn't fix them, and I can understand that you won't fix them...

I respect all your work on MADos, cause I couldn't

did u try to flash a 8210 flash file? flash it. if u see lights coming up or if keypad is working, etc. let us know.

probably wont work in 8850. but maybe u can help making it working

Sorry for that, i couldn't find a thread for your specific flash files.

Will u maybe have a release ready soon which has the lights bug fixed, possibly when the mados timer bug is fixed too ?

sure. just click "fading leds" and "rhytmic leds" when applying patch with g3n0lite

i was using fading leds from nfader. thats why was buggy

spark001uk
11-02-2004, 01:02 AM
Ok thanks. Can i change your portu. menu tags to english somehow with g3n also ?

So, i load your flash into g3n, then what, i tick fading leds and rhytmic, and press patch and then save ? Or am i wrong ?? I expect so ! :) :)

danwood76
11-02-2004, 12:39 PM
You can change the menu tags in the menu structure editor in g3n0lite

Just tick the boxes and click patch, they will then be on

On the subject of new ideas for mados, how about a version written in mobile javascript, to run on java equipped phones ? Would that be fairly easy ?

Crux
11-02-2004, 10:08 PM
that would be cool. not easy. u can start it :-P

spark001uk
11-02-2004, 10:24 PM
Let me get the hang of dct3 coding first

Can i patch your flash with g3n's fading led routine, or would i have to start with a plain standard flash ?

Crux
11-02-2004, 10:28 PM
well, i would say: start it all from the begin.

but if u run the patches again, maybe it works. just dont forget to update 5e0 values for rhytmic leds in the menus.

and select fading and rhytmic leds at same time when patching

Latest mados (@ feb 13th from cvs). It seems every so often the timer problem causes mados to switch off instead of reboot, and then the phone goes dead, and has to be re-flashed.

i tested around very long but the phone didnt power off..
it just resetted after about 4k seconds

14-02-2004, 03:25 AM
Ok, no problem, i don't know what it could be that occasionally causes it to damage the software ?
I wonder, also when i am in mados the lights have an erratic flickering, or it misses the occasional keypress detection, like sometimes u have to press a key twice. Could this be a problem with my phone, or are they known issues ?
thx
mark

Crux
14-02-2004, 01:50 PM
i use mados every days and never had that problem.

maybe u used the option in menu test\flash?

this will kill ur phone for sure.

if it's FULLEMBED, this option is active.

if it's EMBED, this will be disable.

but this option will delete all your flash

spark001uk
14-02-2004, 02:13 PM
Oh i see. So, what are the differences between embed and fullembed ?

Crux
14-02-2004, 04:34 PM
embed has some functions disabled (games, some appz)

fullembed has all activated

spark001uk
14-02-2004, 07:50 PM
Ok cheers Crux. Just putting finishing touches to my first mados full embed, but i'd like to solve the timer problem, is there an easy way to do this? Is it possible to just disable it ?

thx
mark

Crux
15-02-2004, 02:01 PM
the timer? yes. its possible to disable. but i never try it myself. but maybe that cant fix it. i have same problem

spark001uk
15-02-2004, 03:40 PM
Which file is it in ? Is it core\timer.c ? Or are there other procedures i must edit ?

Crux
15-02-2004, 04:48 PM
in main.c change this
{MENU_T_FIELD, 7, NULL, &bmp_Apps, "Apps"}
to this
{MENU_T_FIELD, 6 , NULL, &bmp_Apps, "Apps"}

and this
{0, 0, main_time, NULL, "Time\nsince start"}
,
to this
/* {0, 0, main_time, NULL, "Time\nsince start"}
,*/

that will hide it. but it is there anyway.

i dont think it will work. but... i never tested it myself. who knows...

spark001uk
15-02-2004, 05:56 PM
Yes that only hides it, it still hangs after 4 mins. Come to think of it, why is that timer there anyway ? Do we need it ?

Just done cvs update. All seems ok but some of the submenus are printing on the 4th line when scrolling down, over the top of the navkey text. Noticed it in the unlocker submenu, and the test submenu. Seems it is happening in menus which contain a long text (horizontal scroll).

Just updated cvs again today, and on compiling a fullembed in cygwin, i got this message:

compile warnings:

apps/main:
apps/main.c: in function 'main_sim':
apps/main.c:113: warning: initialization makes pointer from integer without a cast

Whats that all about??

If i'm right in thinking that's line 113 of main.c, it currently reads:

unsigned char *buf = sim_get_buf ( );

Is the problem anything to do with the number of spaces between the brackets? Or am i way off ?

DaveGSM82
17-02-2004, 11:17 PM
now this is a lame question but are you guys writing the software in c/c++? i recognised some of your banter and would like to know how C is compiled into a flash file?

Thanks, Dave.

BOEBOE
18-02-2004, 12:33 AM
Yes, compiled in C (not C++) and we compile this scripts with Cygwin...

Cygwin then compiles the C into the thumb instruction set...

This file is then flashe dinto our phones

n the latest mados flash there a bug wen u go apps, unlocker wen u go on panasonic menu u hav press the up or down button few times to move away and the scroll doesnt fully read panasonic gd55 it read panasonic gd5 and scrolls again . anotha bug the timer is ticking away too fast. and phones hang at 4*** sumthing

DaveGSM82
18-02-2004, 01:58 AM
ah, see, did some C a while ago but wasnt very good. will look into your efforts when i have more time, just one more thing, is there any available flash for the 8210 with mados already installed? seems like a lot of work for something that many people are replicating, cant we just get a collection of flashes like the 3310 one which is already available?

Thanks, dave.

Hi
Just a couple of things,

Firstly, does it matter that the latest compile is giving a warning about the main_sim function ?

And, is it a simple task to fix the timer problem in fullembed mode ? Is the timer important in running mados ?

thx
mark

g3gg0
18-02-2004, 09:40 PM
this warning is not important...

whats the problem with timer in fullembed?

spark001uk

whats the problem with timer in fullembed?

The timer advances 1s... then 30s... then 1s... then 30s.... etc.

Just noticed something else i hadnt noticed before, when there is vertical scrolling text, for example the list of 7 calculated dct4 codes, u can scroll down but not back up again.

Crux

DaveGSM82
22-02-2004, 06:42 PM
i'm using a 3310 (old) and i have all the probs listed above. the timer problem is prob the most annoying, the scrolling thing doesnt really matter.

any chance of implementing a "return to 3310" function? so that you dont have to reboot every time you want to leave your mados function.

also, any chance of reducing the sample rate of the voltmeter function (to about 2-3 times/sec)? it seems a bit too quick which means all you see is the voltage fluctuating if theres any AC ripple.

i also have some ideas about how to implement a continuity or ohm meter if anyones interested.

Dave.

DaveGSM82

another bug noticed:
Used Nokia 3310 new(09 2003),
CVS from 26.02.2004
compile options:
FULLEMBED
3310_old

MadOS activion via shortcut

in text scroll test if i scroll down, the text looks normal, like this:
compile it ...
if i scroll up, the text looks like this:
... ti elipmoc
the letters have inversed order :(

Another thing, if i compile with options:
FULLEMBED

when i activate MadOS, it only shows a message Show Logo
and then hangs, and then reboots.

This problem now with mados, i see it was you that committed the changes to cvs on 3rd and 4th march, since which compiling with fullembed 3310.old now comes the "region rom full error", do u know what you changed in those files, which may be creating this error ?

Just out of interest, i'm curious to know why the mados team keep updating and adding fancy bits to the system when it has bugs stopping it from compiling properly ???

For about a month now its not been possible to make a 3310 embed or fullembed due to some "region rom full error". I'm not being critical here, cos they have done a lot of work, for free, and i appreciate this. I'm just curious as to why these new items are being added, when we can't make use of them because the bugs haven't been fixed and we can't compile it ??

mate... because its an easy thing to fix it yourself as i already said before

-There are lot of simple games written for some calculators like Casio CFX-98xx or TI-xx. Would it be possible to inport these files?

Crux
17-04-2004, 12:54 PM
are those games in c?

probably they are in casio language. not c.

but if it is c, then it should be possible to make a few arrangements and put it in mados

thedogcow

they are in the casio language, kinda similar to basic but i doubt it would be an easy task to port, cos you dont have things like lists for storage under mados

6*4=?
2+43=?
423-45=?

so the simple math :)

is there any kind if information of MADos commands like what do lcd_to_screen and the other? i'm a learner and i have some new idea like calculator. ;)

thx

It's based on C and of course u can use such basic operations as x=a+b, x=a*b, x=a/b, x=a-b;

as for advanced instructions, like input/output look in lcd.h, kpd.h, buzzer.h and some other files.

To make output to screen use this:
lcd_draw_line (x1,y1, x2,y2, color) - draws to LCD buffer the line which starts @ x1,y1, ends @ x2, y2 and the color is 0 (white) or 1 (black).
etc.
to show the LCD buffer on screen use command lcd_to_screen() .

just look in other programs to understand :)

with the current gcc it's only possible to div with 2 4 8 16 32 ...
otherwise you have to use lib_div ( 16, 3 ) for example.

softfloats are also supported ;)

ive downloaded the latest mados embed file for 33new from mados.tk and integrated it to my flash (3310v6.07). but whenever im in the mados mode, the keypads are mixed. what could be the problem? i got a 3310new board. same thing happened when i flashed the standalone version.

Yes Use the 3310 Old

I have several 'new' 3310s (ones with 3410 style keypad pads) and they still use the 3310 old MadOS, although I have not tried it for a while ;)

Still no changes in main MADos bugs. did g3gg0 abandon his project?

ITS NOT ABANDONED

ts temporary stopped like he told me.

just wait. maybe u get new updates. anyway, the phone models supported by mados are getting to outdated, so, people are losing their interest in this.

lets just hope we get cool updates there soon. :)

i think greatest problem is that just two/three phones are compatible with MADos (not standalone). There are a lot of people that still have DCT3 phones not 3310 or 8210 (primary phone or not) and would like to try it.

I'm not complaining because i've made no effort for its development but still...

@mestrini:

exactly, i have a 6110 which doesnt seem to work (tried 5110 precompiled flash from mados.tk) but i would really like mados to work on this phone.

probably the important people of this project (crux2002, g3gg0 especailly) either have not enough time in their day to work on this or they are not motivated enough

yep, hobbies and passtimes are left for last in priority list :P

Not disrespecting geggo's and krisha's work, great advance for this project came from the fact that a guy called wumpus published his studies of 33xx (see blacksphere project) and that gave s all knowledge of this phone's hardware and comunication.
If there were similar studies of other DCT3, and i believe some DCT4, this project could be much wider :-)

But still, that's me talking... and i'm just a poor modder, not a programmer

cheers

the problem is that i wanted this project to be a public one..
but noone is interested in coding
of course except yomanda daniel kraze etc.. (thanks to you)

but noone who is used to program low-level and understands microchips,
io's and hardware in general

hey dudes,
i┤ve got a small info to the irda thing,
i┤m not really into mados but if its posibble to connect somethin over the Fbus it shouldnt be a problem to realize it:
here┤s the datasheet of a irda module http://www.reichelt.de/inhalt.html?SID=12QUcqLtS4AQwAAE88F%40Ia1ba4f27a292529ce5a64f72983ade33;ACTION=7;LASTACTION=6;SORT=artikel.artnr;GRUPPE=A55;WG=0;SUCHE=tfds%204500;ARTIKEL=TFDS%25204500;START=0;END=16;FOLDER=A500;FILE=TFDS4500%2523VIS.pdf;STATIC=0;FC=669;PROVID=0;TITEL=0;DOWNLOADTYP=1;DATASHEETAUTO=
rxd txd power gnd you neednt, only code for interfacing it, i would make but im a really noob in c so for me its impossible, but for some of you maybe.

respekt to you, mados really rocks!!

My idea is that maybe 3310 can be used as ir remote - the ir diode can be connected parallel with keypad diodes(xternal switch if not in use as remote control) The ir sending routines for sending rc5 ( pihilips ir protocol ) and sony ir are available for avr and pic chips and these routines are written in C. Im not programmer but i have done the ir sending and receiving for avr chips in basic. It would be very cool if we can use 3310 as remote with lcd. And more i think it is very possible even to use irda - for example winamp playlist can transmitted and viewed in phone lcd:)

the idea with an IR interface is nice ;)

the projects really not dead! i don't understand why only so few people did/do some work on it ?! It could become much greater!!

you can see any changes here, if you're interested in: http://213.239.195.213/~geggo/cvsstat/index.html

I yesterday fixed the lib_div bug, now it should be possible to use / and % with every value (except floats, but here comes softfloat!). So there shouldn't be any porting problems with divide anymore - hope this will encourage some people again ;)

at last an important update! Maybe i can now finish porting some unlock calcs to MADos.
