You could just copy the mail folder from c:/system/mail and then put it back on once you have formatted. You could either send it to your PC, or stick it on the mem card, then put it back in the phone. Thats assuming you are storing the messages in the phone... If they are on the mem card now, you should be alright. Im not 100% sure tho... Hope that helps

Umm try doing a full backup of your phone before you format it and then you can restore the c:\system\mail directory, it that fails, restore your phone fully and you'll be back where you started..

go to messages, options, settings, change the mem in use to mmc, if it asks if u wanna move the sms all to mmc, do so, den format the fone. contacts on fone will b lost thou.
after format, set the inbox mem to mmc to see ur msgs again.

erm, when u change the mem in use to mmc, can u still see the sms?
if u can, those u can still see, are on e:. those missing, are in c:
take a look at c:/system/mail/(1st folder). similarly to e:
or u might try lookin for msg saver on irc.

no! u cant move them tis way, even if u do, u cant read the sms, someone on tis forum did tt, moving the sms files, and nv read his previous sms again after format.
when u alreadi set the inbox mem to mmc, those sms tt u can see are in the inbox. when u set the mem in use to fone mem, those sms u see again, are those stored on c:.

Guys i''m living proof that the method i'm going to mention works...
lol, i did it this morning..
lol, first i backed up my phone to my PC, using Bluetooth.. Then formatted my phone completely..
And using Epoc File Manager i restored my whole mail directory.. Works like a charm.. And i've got more than 800 messages..
