Hi there,

I have recently purchased a cd conatining lots of ringtones. Im able to transfer them across to my phone Via infra red link with no bother. When I check in my tones folder and i can see the file i have just transfered but when i go to play it, it says unable to open file? As far as i can see it doesnt seem to play anything over 10kb?? Is this normal??? :-? If so is there anyway around this?

Thanks

Well looks like i answered my own question, so i suppose then i makes me the Nokia phone guru

Anyways i found this on the internet

" for what i understand, .mid files that are larger than 10k wont work as ringtones on most phones but i've actually seen 20k files work.

remember, a nokia phone can apparently only play 4 instruments at one time) so some songs will differ slightly from the original (if you play it using windows media player and if u listen to it on your phone) "

therefore im presuming if there is more than 4 different tones in a song, a frigin nokia 7250(i) will not play them.

Dissapointing, very disapointing....

I've found with transfering ringtones onto my Nokia 5100, which is also only limited to 4 different instruments, they often will sound different, to the point that I end up deleting them, I havn't found a ringtone yet that when transfered onto my phone still sounds respectable! Maybe someone knows a website were we can download ringtones that are made for the Nokia phones which are limited to 4 instruments and less than 10kb's!

For free ringtones you can download directly to your phone using your GPRS www.polyphonicringtonez.com are pretty much all under 10kb. there is a few good ones there but personally im just happy with the sound that comes out of a 7250i. If you compare it too it's rivals, sony ericsson t610 and sharp gx10i by tone and camera quality it sucks. Im now on the look out for the 6600 because this wee fella just doesnt cut it anymore......

Maybe you guys should consider a software upgrade... If the phone is under warrenty still, they should do it for free for you at Nokia Care Center...

You won't be able to play ringtones with more than 4 instruments, but doing a firmware upgrade will smoothen out any wrinkles that your phone's software has, and it might allow you to play tones bigger than 10kb!
Cheers
