Well, i do not know much about cell phone. Can anybody tell me what is DCT stand for? What is DCT 2, DCT 3 and DCT 4? :-?
How can we tell which phone is DCT 4? Can the feature of the phone tells what DCT the phone is?

dct = digital core technology. dct2 was very proprietary, very old. first gsm phone nokia did (1011) was dct2 and a few more.. looked like bricks, screens like old motorolas (lame lcd)
dct3 was pretty much every black n white lcd phone nokia did, 5110, 3310, 7110 etc... lcd was better, smaller pixels etc
dct4 is generally all new phones, colours and camera in many..
so the simple rule of thumb is: black and white lcd? = dct3. colour=dct4.
there may be some exceptions

8310 has a b/w lcd but it's a DCT4  !
I think the main difference is that all DCT4 phones has GPRS service, while DCT3's don't.. Som1 correct me if i'm wrong !

Theres one big hardware difference between the two:
DCT4's have serial UEMs where the IMEI is stored
DCT3's have an emulated IMEI

This is a really good thread! I wondered about all this once before... My old Nokia 8910 had GPRS, but I always thought it was a DCT-3 phone, but after hearing that the Nokia 8310's are DCT-4, I'd be thinking it is also DCT-4...

Well if you look at the 5110 it has a solid Eeprom not actually part of the flash chip after that the eeprom is emulated on the flash IC itself
So thats what I mean
