I dropped my 7250i and exactly the same thing happened. They couldn't repair it so I got a new phone under insurance.

It sounds as though the lcd is damaged-do the lights come up on the screen ,or only on the keypad area? Check the pins that are soldered on the pcb where the lcd joins the board,they may have been damaged and need resoldering[hopefully you didn't tear the pads or the phone is permanently damaged]
