3410 problem after remote unlock-help

hi,
just before xmas, i paid a site to remote unlock my brothers 3410.
It was locked to t-mobile and he wanted to use an orange sim in it.

I ordered the code, got 1 code and it unlocked the phone so the orange sim registered in the phone.

Only problem now is that in the messaging menu, create new message is unavailable, and so are menu options 8-12 i think it is.

Tried a master reset but not sorted it, any ideas on how to fix this, like i say he cant go to create a new text, he has to go into the chat menu to send messages

This may be a software fault so try reflashing the phone and see whether it makes a difference.
