8210 "INSERT SIM CARD" screen

hey i just bought a 8210 on ebay. when i insert my sim it asks me "insert sim card" does this mean its locked to a network??? please help me. thanks :-?

Open the phone clear the contacts on the pcb with pure alcohol and reheat CCONT chip...thats all..

I have a similar problem with a very old (and wrecked) 3210... but its a bit strange. It will accept the original BT Genie SIM cards no problems, but if I put in an o2 SIM card (same network - different name - 23410 iirc), it says "Insert SIM Card".
