Smartmovie PROBLEMS... all here

Rite... as topic.. details abt problems faced on smartmovies.

i keep having !app closed !app closed sound streaming followed by !app closed smartmovies

any other s/w related problems?

Aside from the problems that you've already listed, I've also come across "app. closed mp3 decoder."

It's really frustrating.....I just want smartmovie to work..... I hope somebody out there knows how to solve these problems.....

Less than 30 secs. in the main menu of smart movie, an 'app closed: sound streaming' followed by 'app closed: smart movie' msg would come out and would really close the application. I had ultramp3 in the past but i uninstalled it before installing the smart movie. I checked for the remaining files of ultramp3 using efile manager but there's nothing left. Before i installed the smart movie up to the present, i no longer have mp3 players installed in my phone. Could someone pls help us all....

Heh...my seems to be funny..

If i install it in the phone memory, then i open the App, the screen turn white with vibration and i can't turn it off only if i removed the battery.

And if i install it in the MMC, opened the App with white screen but without vibration also i can turn it off only if i removed the battery.

...someone can fix these problem?

My problems are with the converter, it says I need the correct codecs for almost every movie I try! The only ones I'm able to convert are old DivX 3.11a movies.

I have nokia 6600...well i have uninstalled all application on my phone still won't work also i formated my phone and installed the application but the problem still happens...:mad:

uninstalled the app, removed the .bin that i had previosly made read-only.
installed it again, works fine now...

is it just me or does smart movie lag alot, it used to work okay when i reformatted my mmc and only had that on it but when i installed other apps it seems to lag alot on movies now. there are no other papps open, and i still have alot of memory 148mb.
can sumone help

Hey people,

I'm really not convinced yet about Smart Movie. I've just got V2.0 and it appears more buggy than the first one. The picture is so pixelly and not smooth at all on the phone anymore. The first release was better!

It's a nice idea, converter and player combo and the quickness at which it encodes, but if the qualitys bad then it's a waste.
Mobiclip appears to still be the best one in my book, yeah it's a longer process to encode anything and there is no fast forward but it's a better player.
I wonder what new changes will come?

dun worry about my lag thing i fixed it myself it works smoothly now.
for thse who had the prob, it only lags if u do the time trick thing,(make readonly/folders), so install it properly and dont crack it.
when ur time is low just delete the 2 files in c:\system\data, this will reset the time and have the player still running smoothly

Yeah, I found this out last night as well. Delete the files then make folders and it's slow, leave them alone and it's better.

The pixelling problem I had was through using the wrong codec. I was using the first one posted on LCG's site, FFDSHOW codec I think which was for MPEG4. The one I had to use was the newly posted Xvid one, which has now made it better.

Still not quite convinced about quality anymore, doesn't look any different to MobiClip now I feel.

is since i've installed smart movie
all my movie files (divx, xvid and mpeg) have been playing
crap in windows media player. theres a lot of pixel graphics
everytime i play something. i've updated all the codecs but no joy.

Hi, I've got the Cracked version of Smart movie, its ver. 1.02!. I've got a 3650. The Problem is that when I convert a file using the 128 kbps. the file converted runs great on the PC but when I send it to my Phone and run it, it plays slowly. I mean it is not smooth, it pauses after each second. When I convert it say using 48 kbps it does run smooth but the picture is all blurry, so someone please tell me what Frame rate should I use or tell me some good configuration. I've got an unlocked Converter and a locked one too. The locked one gives me a selection of Codecs which I want to use to convert my file and the unlocked one only gives me a choice of Framerate. By the way I have a 128 MMC on my 3650. And Please Tell me where to download new Codecs for my phone. So Please Help me!!!

I have not been able to encode footage to be able to fit on my mmc.It is big enough 128mb but the films have been coming out at gb's.Wot am i doing wrong.Also i keep on getting app closed and stream problems on the program. :-x

i already opened a thread on this issue couple of days ago, i think smartmovie sucks big time. dunnow why everybody finds it so great. The app closed soundstreaming error occurs everytime i am using the application. glad to hear im not the onlyone....the lagging is the same over here, even after deleting the two files is system\data....... btw is seleq the only filemanager that can make files read-only?

i've just installed version 2.04 and play's for about 5 seconds and i get a system close audio decoder error. i didn't have this problem with version 2.00 only mp3 decoder error. can someone help fix this problem with version 2.04

I remember some one from Indonesia met me in #aivanet and he also had the same problem, well here is the solution, that day we tried and which really worked..

Juz see which files you have in your smart movie folder

Juz go to e:\system\apps\smartmovie

where is the drive where u install your application.

U guys might be missing some file.. this was the case what that indo Guy..

juz list the files and we all will match and will let u know. .

Hi there :)

I am using a full version (legal i assume, not cracked and wasn't really cheap) 2.04 on my 3650. I have sometimes the "Application closed: Audio Stream" error, after which the movie continues playing for like 10 seconds, then stuck. This happens ONLY if i have something else still running or open in the background, like Contacts, Messaging or whatever. If i run Smart Movie alone, never any failure. It plays perfect, smooth, with nice picture quality and good sound too (just way too weak over speaker).

I still experience hickups with the converter on the PC tough - sometimes i have to convert a file twice (without changing settings!) because the first try is pixelly. I always run the converted file on Windows Media Player before uploading to phone- saves time :)

I have to say "I love Smart Movie", it is the main reason for me to carry my 3650 brick everywhere despite never having used it as a phone.... instead as a movie-and-music player, game console, internet station, video camera etc. Everything but a phone :)

Everyone should stop using the smartmovie converter application - try using VirtualDub instead. Much more flexible, better quality, albeit a little slower.

It is very easy, the main problem with Virtual Dub is that it cannot accept certain file types, unlike the LCG Converter which almost reads anything.
What I do is use a PC based program called "TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress" first to convert to an MPEG file, this program is nice in that it will even convert .ASF files to.
From there I load the newly created file into Virtual Dub MPEG, load up my settings posted on this forum, alter the Cropping to suit the clip and click save as AVI.

You don't even need many codecs for Virtual Dub, DivX PRO V5.2.1 (latest) is best and then the LAME MP3 Audio Codec and your done.

Don't give up as you will be rewarded for your hard work once you have sussed it out. I remember searching for the settings and trying my own one's after not finding any to go by and since I've managed to do it, Smart Movie is a nice way to watch movies.

So finally i was able to use Virtual Dub, and that too with CooLicE Settings, like i have DIVX 5.2 Ver. in my PC, now there are 3 ques in my mind and they are : -


* Wen i saw the processed output it had DivX at it's bottom printed on the Video.. I wanna remove that ;)


* With your settings naked it gives me an Audio Processing error, Well i used a different compressor and it was sorted out.. Lemme know will it effect anywhere, rather i am installing Lame Encoder tonight...


* I want to make the Output File Size really small as LCG Convertor Does, i mean it makes 48Mb movie to juz 4 or 5 Mb, what options do I need to change, please help me..

nO dOUBT vIRTUAL Dub is Gr8 but the Size problem is the most Lagging thing in it... so i would Stick to LCG convertor only.. :(

Yesterday and today i found outr that it seems to depend on the used phone as well! Since i am running "my" SmartMovie 2.04 without much problems on my 3650, i have installed the very same file on a 6260 (my boyfriend's, else still virgin after being Flashed recently) yesterday evening, and on a 7610 and a 6600 today at my office.

The 6260 plays a movie file nicely, but when stopping the playback (not exiting the application!!) it will shut itself down with "App closed: Sound Streaming" error. It can then be restarted immediately and will again run fine untill "stop" is executed.

On the 7610 i had trouble installing it in first place - it would twice come up with "Installer - invalid file". The third try worked out. Here too it plays nicely, but when "stop" the playback, it goes "App closed: Sound Streaming" and exits the player. Here it can NOT be restarted - it will come with "System error". The phone needs to be rebootet.

On the 6600 it will (always!) do a clean "stop" but when EXITING the app, either it will freeze the phone for a little while (some 20 seconds) with a fading screen, then return to normal (SmartMovie then closed) or it will say "System error" which locks the phone and only taking out the battery helps.

Both the tested phones were "virgin" bought over the weekend by colleagues of mine, and SmartMovie was to be the first 3rd party software on each of them. The movie file i tested with was a 41-MB sized avi version of "Cellular" that i converted here and that runs without any trouble on my humble 3650.

just get a later version of the app, earlier lonely cat apps like smartmovie, ultramp3 have errors like "app closed, sound streaming" or similar, later versions does not have the problems.

Thank you for that.... i just went and downloaded the latest version 2.64 from lonelycat's website. I hope i don't need to register it..? I mean, the registering is only for the decoder part? Mine is unlocked, and i didn't install the new decoder.

However i put the new SIS on my boyfriend's 6260. It works, starts somewhat faster than the 2.04 version and also stops flawless. WOW. But the new "Fullscreen Zoom" function doesn't do anything, seemingly. There is no difference when playing a clip which doesn't use the full screen. Whatever.

I havew put the same file on my 3650 (OLD phone!) Well, i get "App closed: Smart Movie" when trying to play a larger file (movie!) unless i reboot the phone before using SmartMovie. Using Stacker i found that the new SmartMovie consumes ALL my available memory! The graph just drops to almost zero once the movie starts. Oh, and as soon i start "Stacker" or anything else for that matter, SmartMovie just exits. Well, i will install the old version again on my 3650, i think new phone-new version but old phone - better old version.

What files are those..? I found that the new version will play only one hour, useless. And eFilemanager from Psiloc also makes read-only files.
