I just got one of these on Vodafone a few days ago... first impressions were "jeeez... bit small isnt it?", then it was "oooo, blue LEDs for the buttons" :p and then I found how easy uploading ringtones/pictures etc to the phone was in comparison to my old Nokia 6610 (which I thought was really easy to do!).
Simply enable IR on the mobile, aim at IR adapter on the PC, and it links up. Right click on a midi file/picture file which you want on the phone, choose "Send to..." and then "Nearby Computer". Phone comes up "Data Received", and I can save it... Why can't my gf's Sharp GX10i be so easy to upload to like this??!!
My only complaint is the crap game (no, not games... there is only one game!) on this phone. I have tried uploading java games which I had for my Nokia (and I have a lot of these!!) but none of them work - the phone says "Invalid data of Infrared" (probably does not support these). Writeups I have read about this phone say that it is not J2ME compliant, yet the one game on the phone shows the Java logo when its loading, so it must support it to a certain extent.
Has anyone found games for this phone (or similar Panasonics like the x70) which work and are free to send via IR?

 Sorry friend. Java games can come only "over the air" (wap, vodafone live etc.). IrdA is locked from VODAFONE for downloading games and aplications. I downloaded 2 games from vodafone live! with no problem and have space for aprox. 3 more.

yes... but you will have to install the irda drivers for the ma620. If they're not on the CD you got with the adapter, you can get them from the mobileaction website - http://www.mobileaction.com - install them and when u enable the X60's infrared and line the ir sensors up, your PC will automatically pick up that it is an X60 and you send the ringtones & pictures to it by just right clicking on the item and choosing "Send to..." and then "A Nearby Computer". Really easy, much better than Nokias for this function imo... just a shame the battery life is so poor - how long does your battery last bennett1?

Phoned vodafone last night and they said the battery life I'm getting from the phone is nowhere near what it should be. My girlfriend took the phone into the shop earlier as I'm working and they have replaced the whole set (mobile, battery & charger). Apparantly it should be charged no more than 3 hours at any time, so when I left it plugged in overnight (as I used to always do with all my previous phones), that is classed as a no-no and I should leave it in for no more than 3 hours... bugger :(
anyway, fingers crossed this'll be sorted :) I'll keep you all updated
