View Full Version : unlocking 6340i (Cingular USA) code 1 or 7?

Hi, I unlocked my phone (Cingular USA) using the code 7 and got the message that the restriction was lifted. However, I'm now trying to use a european SIM card, the phone boots fine but I don't have any network coverage while the SIM works fine with a local cellphone.
The 6340i is tri-band so I'm not sure of what to do. Should I use code 1 instead to unlock again?
Thanks. Oliver

6340i is not a gsm triband phone.

for gsm it supports only 850/1900 MHz, which can't work in europe (you need 1800 MHz for that).

it supports more frequencies, like TDMA 800/1900, and AMPS (analog system, i think this one was developed into CDMA today), but not the gsm frequency needed to work in europe.

Thanks. According to the specs, it features indeed GSM 850/1900 Mhz, TDMA 800/1900 Mhz, AMPS 800 Mhz but not the GSM 1800 Mhz. Too bad...
