SkyForce cracking...

Hi everyone.

I'm a coder behind SkyForce. Now since the game is cracked I can share a few thoughts about cracking it.

While implementing this protection I was pretty sure it will be cracked in 3 days. Keeping it protected for over 40 days was kinda nice suprise. I'd say that this kind of protection would take no more than 3 days to be cracked on the PC scene. This gives you all a picture of how skilled Symbian cracking scene is and how other apps are protected...

SkyForce was our first game for Symbian and it was sort of experimental. Coding it took us a lot of time but protecting it was a just one day work.

Its really funny to read all of those comments about cracking SkyForce on the forum. Some of the hints were kinda useful, like BT remote bruteforce method. You can be sure this will be disabled :) Also discussion about how to create keygen from some legal codes and IMEIs was quite funny.

To bosley: how many times did you play the first level before you cracked it?

To all kids around: Saying "wow, this game rox!" is very nice, but adding "where can I download full version for free?" is not. You surely want to have more cool games for your phone, but this way won't help it at all...

version 1.1 of skyforce already fixed the bruteforce method didnt it? it exits if u type the code wrong for a few times.

if ur really from infinte dreams then dont worry... im sure the crackers will crack ur new rally game too! :-P

If this guy is from Infinte Dreams, why is he so calm & cool about the game being cracked. Others would have been raising HELL about it. Benjers or Benji something is just not kosher, but hey who cares wheather it take 40 minutes, hours, days or months. It was bound 2b cracked sooner or later.

Its not my intention to prove that I am from Infinite Dreams, but if you dont believe it I can generate a code for your IMEIs that will work with SkyForce. As far as I know there is no keygen out, so that would be a prove. And you are probably already playing cracked version so...

I dont worry about that. Every app can be cracked. Well, maybe except of the one that won't ever be released due to low profits...

hmm . agree.. every app or games will be cracked.. jus a matter of time.. if it can be programmed.. so it can be reversed... he doesnt need to be angry even its cracked,, if i was him.. i'll be very happy.. seeing such a long thread about skyforce on almost every symbian forum! wat a great achievement! seriously. no game has such a long thread b4! why do ppl mention? only the game is nice , so the ppl would tok about it. if its not nice... even if its cracked.. no one would try. im sure alot of ppl bought tis game.. its really nice.. how i wish every game programmer puts in so much effort like tis game.. im sure it will change the mindset of ppl into buying it...
and i mean the NOKIA MMC games... seems like they were rushing into making the games. i hope the rally from infinite will come out soon!

well, i tink infinite dreams alreadi knew their games (or rather, skyforce in particular) will b cracked, so they kinda tried delaying the crackers, and in the meantime, ppl who cant wait buys them. smart i'd say.

Ye, but i also heard stories about crackers intentially w8ted to crack it. Just to get people buying it... Well it worked (bought it myself) and i hope Infinite Dreams got enough money to make a whole new line of games...

Iceman5: your code is 20905. You can tell everybody if its working or not. BTW if you pay with your credit card on handango/symbos you receive your code automatically. Theres no risk that the code will not be delivered.

tester72: seeing discussions about SkyForce on all forums was obviosly very nice for us. But seeing it cracked wasn't... I hope you are able to understand that point.

tzeonn: of course we knew SkyForce will be cracked, as everything on this planet can be cracked. However we never contacted anyone from crackscene to delay cracking our game. If there was an intentional delay it wasnt coming from us.

U guys have set a new milestone in the S60 games scene, if u just look the whole fuzz about this game, u'd notice that it's more that unique. Even N-Gage games don't get these amounts of posts/views/attention!

yeah in a way crackers are not really very bad. Im sure bos made us wait long enough so that some of us would buy the game. I myself did buy it although i had the cracked version. I think that these cracked games should be used more as a preview than as a way to get free games

I totally agree with you here.
And i also think these cracked apps and games force developers to keep the price low, i mean come on $ 24,99 for total IR remote is just way to expensive. If it were like $ 10 i’d buy it regardless if i had the cracked version or not.

LOL, bet you had a fair chuckle at me then aye :D:D:D If I could buy this game through sms or through my provider (Vodafone NZ) I would have already. If it becomes available I still will.
You guys make top games, full respect to you for that. However I am not rich, I fell into the trap of having a credit card once (and I did buy from handango when I had it) and now I'm in so much debt I won't be clear for a couple of years! So there's no way I'm getting one again = no way to buy the game.

Please see if you can come up with some other way of us buying the game - the same goes to any other coders out there reading this.

very true.............if only these kind of games can be purchased thru our network provider which is the only easyway other than the credit card thingy..........................keep in mind that not all people use credit cards for some variuos reasons...................and that is y unfairness rules...............and crackers emerges!

If i were you, i would remove the registration code system, and in sted store IMEI of all registered customer on a authorisation server. Than, in the game you implent a function in the game that connects to the server and check if the IMEI is registered (everybody have internet on the phone these days).

It would probably be annoying if you needed to connect to internet everytime you started the game, so maybe only every 5 times you connect, the game needed to be validated.

Just an idea :P

Btw, remember that most of the people who download the hacked copy (or keygen) wouldn't buy it anyway. I admit that i often download warez, but it is mostly about testing. There are very few games and applications i actually use...

I know this information is private but an idea about how much money u guys generate from one 'good' game might indicate to the others how much moeny u actually DO make from these releases...

yup...i agree of wat he said....i have just been to the handgo webbie...saw this photo editor....as i already got lots of these editor S/w ....and i really need one that it was good...and the photo editor listed out so good....it even hold a comparison with fx and another one....but in the end...when i tried out the c#@!# versionn....nahhh...it wasn't that good as it was show...as we know that sometimes demo version....got only limited to a few functions
