Hi y'all, about 2 days ago I have received an email from twobirds.com that was related to the N-Gage Games hosted on my website.
This is the message:

Nokia Corporation – “N-Gage” Mobile Game Deck

We act for Nokia Corporation (“Nokia”). As you will be aware, our client is the world’s leading supplier of mobile phones and also a leading supplier of mobile, fixed broadband and IP networks in many countries throughout the world.

Our client unveiled its “N-Gage” mobile game deck in February of this year and had been promoting it since November 2002. Games which can be played on the “N-Gage” mobile game deck are now available for purchase. These games were exclusively developed by third parties in conjunction with Nokia for use on the N-Gage mobile game deck. All of the games are protected by copyright protection devices.

Our client has become aware of a website being run at http://n-gage-shack.vze.com (“the Domain Name”). We understand from our searches that the Domain Name is registered in your name. Accordingly, you are responsible for the website associated with the domain name (“the Website”). The Website offers the free downloading of a number of games, including:

- Doom;
- MotoGP;
- Pandemonium;
- SonicN: and
- Tony Hawks Pro Skater.

We enclose a screen shot from the Website showing the availability of the games for download.



This Website is not authorised by Nokia or the third party providers of the games. The appearance of the games for download:

1. infringes Nokia’s copyright; and

2. means that copyright protection was circumvented.


Registrant and Account Holder

As detailed above, in making copies of games for N-Gage available on the Website you are infringing our client’s rights. We request that you remove the infringing material and confirm this action to us within two hours of receipt of this letter.

Ah well.. Back to the Java and Sis games I guess.
I'm really sorry towards the people that always looked forward to download a new Nokia N-Gage game from my website. If you really want a game, you can always add me to MSN ([email protected]) and I'll be happy to share them with you! Let's show those f*cks @ 2birds they can't stop us ;)

One thing is for sure. Every new Nokia Game that hits the market will be cracked and shared around the world! Nokia can't stop the community, noone can! They might get wrid of http and perhaps even ftp downloadables but they will never stop irc, im file sharing and p2p!

Next time be smarter? You can get away with it! I receive harassing letters like this all time! Don't let it get 2 ya.

Basic Steps to protect you arse!

Know the letter of the law? There is always a loophole? Especially here in the US. Murder can even be legal if done in the right way? Use the law to your advantage? (Ie:Force a legal dissclaimer and exclusion notices is a common practice)

Use an anonymous domain forwarding service? Preferrably multiple services to control access.

Place your homepage and content pages on different servers. Prefferably servers that allow alternative content like porn servers or servers in third world countrys?

Never host illegal software on the same server as the home or content pages!

Try to find a mix of alternate download servers to avoid taxing just one site bringing attention to yourself by admins and their software!

Upload threw anonymous proxy servers and public computers to avoid being tracked. Never threw a private connection like DSL!

Host links to known working files on donkey network!

Be carefull about what and where you advertise you site. Join friends trade links. Stay on the down low in forums like this by not making it clear what you are offering.

Stay away from attracting noobs! Most of my troubles have started with noobs!

maybe tis works, try putting a notice, saying tis game is purely for evaluation purposes. go on only if u got the game, or if u wanna haf a go at it. if u like it, buy it.

Besides that, they are .blz files witch means that they have been modifed. So they are not the original N-gage games. I still think it's legal to spread these kind of files as long as you dont use the Nokia or N-gage names, wich are registreded trademarks

My bandwidth on freewebs seems to have gotten expended. It should be up and running again in a few days, by next week I'll have all the images running on my unlimited bandwidth server so no bandwidth problems will occur anymore.

About the ways of dodging security:
I had the files hosted on a different server then where the site pages were hosted
I had a statement that clearly pointed out that the files where for backup purposes only
I kept a pretty low profile. The only place where you could find my link was here, on another small forum, on my partners' pages and on the top50 n-gage list. The problem here was that other sites started to publish my url without my permission. They didn't even contact me. I think the problem started there. After all, I had one of the few sites that hosted the Nokia Games for free so it got a little to popular to fast.

And yes! n00bs really got there to often! I fuckin hate those nubs, they just kept asking me how to get those rar files to there phone.. The unbelievable dumbasses. Don't they get it when on top of page it is explained you need to unpack them with winrar first.. sigh.. ah well.. I'll get those games up and running within next month most probably. Take some extra percaucion. Perhaps even password protect them, you know, a members only part of the website. I don't know how to make such pages tough, any1 some suggestions?

Yup, ID software posted the source code and the sis version only contains the shareware levels... so its totally legal.
