When i type in the code *3370# (only because i'm curious :P), I received the following msg "Change active speed codec?" On the screen, i can either press "OK" or "Back". Yes, i pressed "Back" since i'm not sure what this will lead to. When i did a search on it, only 1 returned (in English), and it mentioned something about "Enhanced Full Rate." Can someone please inform me more on this topic? Thank you in advance.

this code is the enhanced full rate codec (*3370 = *efr0).

enhanced full rate state causes the calls to sound better quality, but decrease battery power faster.
as much as i know the default state for this one is activated, companies want their costumers to have high quality calls.

to disable it - #3370#.

there is another mode, half-rate codec (*4720#) that causes phone calls to have a worse quality, but saves battery power.

to disable, like the first one - #4720#.

Lol! What a coincidence, I was just about to come on here and find out how to turn on the Enhanced Full Rate Codec! Thanks for this!

Just wondering...

If I disable EFR and don't activate HRC then what quality of sound does my phone use? :-?

don't forget, there is a new AMR codec, which is even better...

Where do I get this or is it inbuilt?

Why doesn't it display anything when i enter it on my 6230?

I don't think it works on any DCT4 phone.
I would test but I'm not at home and I only have an 8250 with me. :-( :-P
