:-? I have Nokia 6800, DKU-5 cable, Laptop. I want to use the 6800 as modem without subscrbing to AT&T GPRS (using my regular air time only) to connect to my internet provider. When I try to connect to my internet provider, the phone show that it is dailing the number and hear click on my 6800 and disconnect. I am sure someone did it before. ANYONE CAN HELP?

I'm getting the same problem with my 6230 connected via IRDA.
It dials the number, then disconnects and says that the remote computer did not respond..
I rang the number and it's the right number - I get the weird computer tones...
It's as if the phone won't wait for the call to connect, or for the remote computer to respond.
I've checked the settings and it's set to - don't disconnect for 60 seconds..

Basically... ain't gonna happen. The phone isn't a modem and the computer isn't expecting to have to decode the analog signal that's coming back when you dial up the other modem. GPRS is the packet data service available for this device... and you will have to subscribe to GPRS (aka mMode or Wireless Internet by AT&T) in order to tether your PC to the phone and talk to the internet. They might refer to the phone as a modem in the configuration, but it's acutally working quite differently than your grandpa's modem.
