Hmm...

Doesn't the 5510 come with data cable, CD for converting mp3 to the phone and that? Surely Nokia have made the software CD with a program capable of 'Organising' the stored data on the phone.

they are not mp3 but lse.
and you can delete them easy way: connect cable and then go to new drive on your explorer (my computer), drive's name is Nokia 5510.
just select files and delete.

you can also preconvert mp3 to lse and later just connect phone to pc and trasfer via explorer (my computer) them to phone.

liteFun?
I got a question for u... how do I preconvert the mp3 files and copy them to the 5510? if I add the files in NAM and copy the so converted .lse files to my 5510 using the explorer it won't let me play them back :(
ps: my 5510 has sw v3.42... do I have to flash a newer software to make it work?

thanx in advance & sorry for the ot-question

nam converts mp3 to lse, it adds kind of fingerprint to them.
when sending to phone, nam checks that fingerprints.

so when you add mp3 to nam, it convert, and when you send it, then check, it will take long time.
but when you only convert them with nam, and then transfer with explorer it will not check.

i didn't have any trouble sending through explorer, but i have v03.53 (previously had 03.50, it hanged sometimes, well... v03.53 don't hang so often).

and you can transfer any kind of files, but it will play only lse.

and also, nam v2.2 or something (the new update) will help too, it's not so buggy. the 2.1 on cd makes me angry.. it will convert to lse, but transfer only one then crashes :(

thank you liteFun! :)
but I have some other problems with my 5510 concerning mp3s (maybe you saw my thread in the hardware repair forum...). I do hope flashing a new version and maybe a virgin eeprom will help to fix this problem... otherwise I would be f***ed
btw... you wouldn't happen to know where to get NAM 2.2? :D
I only have 2.0 from my 5510-CD and 2.1 which I found on the 'net...
and it's been over two months since I last transferred some mp3s to my 5510 because I HATED NAM2.0... would love to try 2.2, I don't think they could make it much worse, so it's worth a shot I guess.

oh well... another huge sorry for the ot-reply :)

g'bye 4 now

actually i'm not sure about the version, but remember as 2.2 was on nokia's download site and 2.1 on my cd..
but it can be 2.0 on my cd and 2.1 newest update. not sure.

@kristianne
how did you format the memory?
did you use NAM to "format" it, or windows explorer or some other software? I would really like to know because I have some problems with my memory (as I mentioned in a post above already -> hardware repair forum) and it is not possible for me to format the memory with windows explorer as it stops almost at the end saying that windows couldn't finish formatting :(

hmm
when I try to format under "dos" (win2k command box) with format x: /U /C it says that the drive is FAT and compression (/C) is not supported in FAT. and btw, what is the /U switch for? it doesn't show up when you type format /? ...

just use NAM its easy to format the memory there!

/U is unconditional in DOS

yes I know that it's easy to "format" in NAM, but my problem is different kristianne! if you are interested you might take a look at my thread in the hardware repair forum... still haven't figured out how to fix it :(
