nokia suite for 3510i

does the nokia suite actually work for the 3510i? i have the suite and all it did was turn my phone off or made it freeze.
is it my cable? im using the cable with the adapter for the 3510i, not just a full cable designed for it but the one which has the adpater to put on end for 3510i, also my phone turned off the other day now it wont even charge or turn on, whats wrong with it?
