I went ahead and bought the 6230. i am very impressed.
just a quick question.
How do i load movies onto my phone? i have the latest version of nokia pc suite nothing on there to do it. i also have latest version of mobimb which also does not support this phone.
the only other way i can think of doing it is by buying a mmc reader and transfer the 3gp files directly. will this work? or is there another way of doing things.
Also when i want to upload mps to my phone i have to load them to my phone 1 at a time then transfer them to my mmc. is there a way of transfering them directly on to the card?
Do you also know what the software to use for the conversion of movie files to 3gp and wht sort of compression would it do? i.e a 50mb movie in mpeg format = ??? 3gp format? i am planing of fitting a 256mb card soon.

Thanks in advance for any help

You can use PC suite to upload stuff to your 6230 by using the Phone browser. With it you can download them directly to yyour MMC but make sure you rename the MMC on your phone first.
You can download a software for video conversion into 3gp from forum.nokia.com.
Finally make sure that the 256 card you're gonna buy is compatible with the phone cos Nokia states that the phone officially doesn't support higher than 128 MB MMCs...
Cheerz.

You have uncorectly uninstall previous version of pc suite,

try this:
Rename the card to MMC or something easily recognisable.
Uninstall previous pc suite version, on reboot, delete any references to Nokia in C/Prog files/Nokia, C/Prog files/common files/Nokia, then goto C/Documents & settings/<username>/anything to do with Nokia. Get Nokia regclean2 from the website (support pages @ the .com site),download & run. Reboot, reinstall pcsuite 6 and yer off!!!

PC Suite 5.8 (that came with the phone) proved to me to be more stable than 6.0

So does the 256mb work with the 6230? I was thinking of buying a 512mb. Will it work?

I just bought a 512MB MMC card, and it doesnt seem to work with my 6230. I took it out of the package and put it in my phone... nothing there. There was no MMC card icon in the Gallery menu. I wonder, do I need to format it somehow, or do you think its just incompatible. Thanks

The Phone Doesn't "officially" Support Larger Than 128mb Mmc.

Don't take this as absolute gospel, but, on the Expansys forum, there appears to be a general consensus that 256 is the max the 6230 can handle, based on user reports. I'm currently only using mine with the 32mb, cos I've only had the phone for 2days.

OK guys. Talking about the 6230, i'm pretty inpressed by its nice features and its look. I'm planing to buy it soon. However, the 6230 is only available with Cingular wireless provider (in USA) as stated on Nokia website. And I personally dont like (very much) Cingular. If I purchase the phone and flash it with lastest firmware (4.28), will it work out?!! or I have to activate my 6230 with my current provider T-mobile. Thnx in advance

Hi, I have a Nokia 6230 and think it's cool. A couple of friends of mine have bought the same phone, and it seems to have a brighter screen/sharper camera etc...I checked my phone software and I have v03.14 whereas they both have v04.44.

I have the DKU-2 data cable, where do I find the software needed to upgrade my phone?

Any information will be appreciated.

Thank you.
