Hi folks,

I bought a second hand Nokia 7110 supposedly in good condition. Manufacture date is 11/00 and it has the latest software.

I have tried about 5 different batteries that I thought were good and they last about 5 minutes before the phone complains that the battery is low and then switches off.

I have tried a number of different chargers including the ACP-8 and ACP-12 but none of my batteries will hold a charge.

I thought it might be the power IC so I brought the phone to a repair shop. They could not figure out the problem and said if it was the power IC, the phone would not switch on at all. Is that right?

Thanks for any clues. I'm hesitant to go out and buy yet another battery as I'm not sure that is the cause.

Rex.

7110 has the same battery as 6110 and (IIRC) 5110. If you have a friend that has such a phone, fully charge both phones and switch batteries.

* If 7110 still dies in 5 mins, switch batteries back. If 5110 says full battery and keeps working, it's the phone not reading power.

* if 7110 works like a charm, it's the battery. Most likely exhausted.

* if 5110 starts complaining about batteries after witch then either 7110 is not charging it correctly or it eats power like crazy (my 7110 used to have days on end stanby but if you played games with lights on it would eat a new batt with full charge in about 2-3 hrs).

As a last note, 5110 comes with NI-MH, 6110 comes in both favours and 7110 comes with Li-Ion. Li-Polymer are also available. Check make before.
