I have a Nokia 7650 but i have cracked the screen so you cannot see any of the detail at all on it, and all i want to do is to transfer all my details (numbers, etc) off the phone via infra red, but as i cannot see the screen can some one please give me the easy way to activate the infrared so i can retrieve my details.

Either a menu shortcut e.g. 1-5-9 or a specific guided tutorial e.g. press the joystick once not then move the joystick down once and press the joystick twice, etc.

Thanks

I am in grate need of the details so any help would be appricated.

As I have a Nokia 6600 based on the Symbian OS 7, i can't help you right now. I have a friend who owns a 7650 though, so I'll check on his phone for you.

Unless a 7650 user helps you first. Hope can get the data soon.

Btw, is it possible to change the screen? Or is to expensive? I have no idea

Thanks Mate, i have priced a screen for it and they are £45 and then theres another £40 to go onto that for the labour so i got quoted £85 for putting a new screen in but as the phone is about knackered i am not willing to pay £85 on it but the numbers i defintly need they are my life line.

Thanks

can you not see anything on the screen?? not even some of the icons around the edge of the screen???

providing you havnt moved the icons around too much if at all on the menu then you could use the instruction manual to guide yourself to the connectivity folder?? look at the pics etc and see how many times you got to press down or left or right

i remember havin some software on my 3650 that when ever i pressed down on standby mode it started my infrared. i cant remember what the software was though, it could have been smart launcher or something like that??? but still no help to you if you can see the screen

cool, thats sorted then.

i had a quick search on the net and found some pics of the menu and they look pretty standard so you can try this?:

menu key - press right twice - down three times - middle d-button - right once then middle d-button to activate infra red.

after pressing the menu and d-button leave it a few secs to open it before pressing any more directions.

this could be wrong but its a start at least :)

hope it helps

na tried it and it wont work, if i remember correctly, when you press the D-button in the menu's it brings like an options list up with (open list, edit, back, etc) i think it does, i need exact instrucions on how to do it, but thanks any way mate.

i have tried lucking on google but no success, it has to be someone with the same phone who can directly tell me step by step on how to do it by saying things like, press the menu button, press down 3 times and 2 times right, then press the d-button twice, then press right once and then the d-button twice, i belive if i am right this brings you into the infra red options but then i am snooked as i aint got a clue.

thanks

He/she already explained. Replacing the screen and the labour is pretty costy at his place

yea, but its better to do so, than waste the good 7650.

well, i guess its his decision.

and, maybe u could go to a shop or sth, ask them to lend u a 7650, and scroll accordingly , hope it works the same.

I have my BT on. If I get a cracked screen, I find someone with BT (like me :) and back things up.

The drawback of having IR is that there's no indication of IR working, so you never know if it's the phone or anything else. BT can be scanned by the computer and found.

i save all my numbers etc. on my sim card so whenever i change phones i just swap my old simcard to the new phone retaining my numbers etc. although i dont think you guys use sim cards over there :) .

well the directions i gave you are where all the icons are (im pretty sure anyway) instead of usin the d button to open stuff, use the left softkey twice, once to open that menu and one more time to click on open.

you'll know if the irda is workin or not cos your comp will pick it up
